My home is a mess

Hello again...
I`m so glad I went to the car boot after all - I had a nice walk round in the autumnal sunshine, saw some folks I haven`t seen for ages, and came home with a few bargains:-
2 quite smart thermal-type jumpers - £2 each
1 lightweight Damart fleece with detatchable hood - caramel colour matches dog-hairs shed by new Littly dog, which is a useful consideration - £2
Earthenware baking dish (glazed inside) - 50p
Large carrier bag full of audiobook cassettes - £5 for the lot.
A big square of felt-backed corded carpet - £1. Not sure where I`ll put it but it would fit the hall & look ok there. (stashed in caravan of Doom for now....)
A lovely floaty Indian cotton summer dress - £1.50, putting that away for next year though.
2 boxed sets of castle-building pieces, similar to lego - boxes look ancient, but full, instruction leaflets are still in them. The old lady selling them said her son was very good for looking after his toys. £3 each. I`m keeping them for the 2 youngest grandsons...in about 3 years - time flies, what`s a bit more clutter to store?
And finally, a carrier bag of yellow courgettes for £1.50.
All the washing is dry, brought indoors AND put away! (Faint! And I haven`t been slurping my Secret Formula at all today!)
Sunday lunch today was eggs & bacon, inspired by me having an egg& bacon bap at the car-boot! (Why not? I did a roast lamb dinner for us all on Friday night.) Tonight I`m going to use up a pizza dough, and the remains of the ham I cooked, & maybe a baked yellow courgette concoction in my new 50p earthenware baking dish...
Drags self away to look for courgette recipes....0 -
Wow Emm that's a good haul at the car boot.
No point me trying to match anything to my dog as she's mainly brown but has white bits.
I did 3 loads of washing this morning most of which was dry when I went to my sons rugby match so there were only 5 items left on the line. The sky was lovely and blue but when we got to the club (5 miles away) it started raining so I rang son no 1 and asked him to bring it in. He can't remember where he put it and I've not found it yet!
I've been telling my daughter for 2 weeks that she needs to sort her room out for the gas check and boiler service I've actually been trying to get her to sort the room out for months it really is disgusting and even if she spent from now till next Tuesday when they are coming it still wouldn't be finished.
I'm really struggling with her at the moment she is so selfish and nasty to me. I've always done everything for her but get nothing back. I cook all her meals, helped clean her car on Thursday after we had been shopping and I'd treated her to lunch out. She fancied a Chinese the other night so I got it for her and her brother, I cleared all the junk out of her car last month because she mentioned going for a meal but the car was messy only to find out half an hour before that I wasn't invited, it was just her, her brother and dad. She has done the same tonight.
I'm fed up of it all to be honest.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Emm have a lovely time off you deserve it. I love car boots but as Im trying to keep the clutetr down iv avoided them. In saying that I did go to charity shops last week:o.
Dibuzz that may be the problem with your dd,ie, doing everything for her. Maybe its time to put yourself first.
Apart from giving my dd room a quick tidy Iv done nothing else. My excuse its Sunday:D. Mind you if I could everyday would be a Sunday.0 -
Hi Messies!
Dibuzz ((HUGS)) No wonder you feel fed up! It is hurtful to be just taken for granted like that. My DS is like that sometimes, and I know deep down it`s just thoughtless rather than deliberate, but if I feel a bit low to begin with it stings more. The fact that one`s offspring are adults(?!) and should be old enough to know better by now makes it worse too! I think I`m as much to blame, as Snookey says, doing too much for them.
If it came to a real crisis, like I had being ill earlier this year and with what seemed then could be a very dodgy prognosis, I`m sure your DD would do as my DS did - rally round, show appreciation, love, and helpfulness. However, now that I`m well again he`s slid back to nearly as bad as before!
It`s a hard life, but it`s regular!
Snookey, I`m having my `Sunday` today!! I was full of beans yesterday, and glad I got so much into the day. Today I CBA!
So far, I`ve collected stuff for bins and put them out, and thought (just THOUGHT, mind!) about doing a few things...
I SHOULD:
Henry bedroom, & put clean rug down again, it`s dry....got as far as taking Henry upstairs and abandoning him on the landing.
Blitz kitchen - courgette concoction was lovely, but oven dish is still soaking and there`s bits of grated courgette on the floor...
Cut a bit of the jungly undergrowth outside, Littly dog is having to stand on tiptoe to see her way around! But the weather is changing every ten minutes so far, sunny then almost dark with spits of rain... very discouraging.
I will do SOMETHING today, bit I`ll have another coffee first.0 -
Hi eveyone!
Just having a quick read through of whats been going on! Welcome to the newbies!!
Down on the farm things have been rather hectic, luckily we've got all of our crop in for the winter while the weather was nice. Child number 2 started secondary school last Thursday, she seems to be enjoying it so far.....
I'm trying to tidy up now that the kids are back at school, it's not going too bad, i even cleaned the bathroom while the youngest was in the bath last night, it didn't seem to take too long as she was blathering away about what she'd been doing at school!!
I picked all the apples off the apple trees yesterday so i'm making a start on pies and crumbles to go into the freezer today. If anybody has any good recipes for apples i would really appreciate them!!
Have a good day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JulesIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
I need to come back and re-join you
Am I allowed?
Will you have me?
Please say YES
It has been four months or more since my last post, I am no longer Miss My Home is a Mess, but very definitely Mrs My Home is a Mess and loving it.
We still have wedding "stuff" in the spare bedroom but it is now nicely stacked and just needs sorting for Ebay and the like - recoup some of our spending on things that may be able to be used by someone else and does not have the full sentimental attachment
Washing has stacked up and the weather has turned - where is the Indian Summer we were promised?
Ironing needs doing, but not too much
Tons of paperwork to file, shred
Still change of name letters to write - think I have finished and then get something in the post or email which tells me otherwise
Grass needs cutting
Dog being groomed today so all his bedding is going in the wash
Out for lunch so no dinner to cook, so will spend some time tackling the annoying bits.
But will have a cuppa first:rotfl:
All the best

Morning everyone,
Not too bad here other than the dining table. I've started up an old hobby again so I am scanning away and have photographs and bits of paper all over the place. Fun though and half an hour would get everything sorted.
My main issue at the minute is garage related. MIL finally feels like she can get rid of some of her DH's stuff and as it's useful wants to give it to us. We all know that if we decline she won't get rid of it so we're accepting it all and it's filling the garage. Luckily she'll never visit here so hopefully DH will start to get rid of it bit by bit. I'm treating it as though it's none of my business though.0 -
I've been round my son's room this morning and picked up a bag full of rubbish.
I put the green bin out this morning and it was only half full so at 6.15 am I was out in the back garden pulling up all the petunias that are past their best now then gathered the 6 empty toilet rolls from the bathroom and added those.
I've got ironing to do but struggling to get motivated.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hi Messies!
FW & Gilly - it`s great to hear from you both again!:T:wave:
FW, after the last winter it`s GREAT to hear you`ve managed to get all your crop in, and even got the apples picked - well done. I was thinking I should go and try to pick some of ours (before they just fall & rot in the undergrowth. Even if I give most away, it`s better than letting them waste)
Gilly, of course we`ll have you back, Daftie! Glad you`re enjoying wifeyness and that you`re still one of us!
Alec E - good luck with ignoring the garage stuff - I ignore our shed quite well, since I`ve started using caravan of Doom for stuff I want to store.
Dibuzz, I have been inspired to do stuff too just for the sake of filling up space on bins day. `Every little helps` (said the old lady when she peed in the sea....)
I`ve done a bit today...yesterday I `committed pie` - used up the last bit of the ham I cooked last week and a couple of frozen turkey breast steaks, so today I`ve cleaned up the aftermath of pie-making...
Also been out on a couple of errands.
Not sure what I`m cooking tonight, will have to see what it is when it thaws properly and take it from there!:o I had to do a bit of freezer tetris to get the turkey breast steaks out yesterday, and some stuff wouldn`t fit back in. If we`re lucky it`s either fish or chicken. I should label things, I know.
I`m going to go outside and worry the apple trees, then have a poke at the thawing stuff...
Have a nice day all. x0 -
Hi Messies!
Hope everyone`s well, seems we`ve all gone quiet for a day or 2, either de-messifying or finding something better to do while procrastinating....I`m definitely in the latter category!
We`ve taken Littly dog on an outing to a nearby country park where she had a little paddle in the river (trying out her new extending lead). She also met some foraging pigs, some rare breed sheep, and a couple of llamas, and was very calm and well-mannered except she hid behind my legs when she saw the pigs!
Meanwhile, chez-Emm...
DGD is back in residence, downstairs has reached Critical Mass, and outdoors has been too soggy to do any cutting or tidying. On the plus side, upstairs is quite reasonable!
Today I`ve decided it`s Autumn - time for a rug-change. The cotton LR rugs take ages to dry, and the woolly ones don`t, so I am now going to Henry & mop LR and venture into caravan of Doom to bring out the woolly rugs.... once this change is completed, we`ll no doubt get that Indian summer they were on about!0
