I know but I quite like my iron
Our kitchen floor is bare concrete. A while ago he tried to make bacon and eggs and must have spilled more than he made.
I set foot in the kitchen and was at the sink in a flash it was that greasy.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hi all, hope everyone is well.
We've had a nightmare last few days, with a slight positive blip when we went out on Saturday afternoon. Suffice to say Big Grey Bunny has chewed through the cables of the stereo and lamp that live on the bookcase that I painted last week.
The bookcase now lives somewhere else and Big Grey Bunny is not speaking to me.0 -
Alec our dog chewed through our kitchen chairs and the cats through countless sets of headphones. You will have to watch that the bunny does not end up with an electric perm, lol.
Im off to fold up washing, hang up wet washing and hoover the stairs and landings.
Mind you thats if I can tear myself away from the computer.0 -
Our last bun chewed through the sofa and two armchairs, apparently it's comfy inside those cushions! I've lost count of the phone chargers etc we've lost to teeth over the years. It's not as though we don't use cable protectors on things, they just have that habit of finding that one thing that's vulnerable!
Cats love headphones don't they, everyone I know has lost headphones to theirs!0 -
Hi Messies!
JPS, I`m glad the doc`s appointment was helpful, sounds like the new term is starting well and I SO know what you mean about being glad to see colleagues again!(also hope ALL School staff out there are having a good start)
YorkshireLass - I hope you enjoyed your first day in the new job. Do let us know how it`s going.
Dibuzz - your DS sounds like mine - a household hazard!! Especially in the kitchen!
Alec E & Snookey - I had a friend years ago who had an indoor bun that ate all the green bits out of her long chintz curtains. The only chewing damage we`ve had over the years has been done by either young dogs or hamsters ...One dog actually ate (well chewed to sawdust!) an ironing board, and DS learned the hard way at a fairly young age NOT to put items of school uniform on top of the hamster cage. None of the cats we`ve had over the years have chewed stuff, just shredded wallpaper/curtains with their claws a bit....
Messy Status Report
Well, I had a few days off & the place looked ok. Yesterday I was out most of the day running errands as Some People leave important stuff to the very last minute....I got very hot & grumpy but I`ve calmed down now so won`t go into it.....
Today a lovely Early shift, going in and seeing huge progress in 3 of my allocated patients, had a big hug from one old chap and we were both a bit moist-eyed. Busy too, but brilliant.
Got home, place didn`t look so good but passable....then DGD arrived from school, Littly dog wanted to play with her, and then suddenly I`m looking around thinking LR is close to Critical Mass!
My response to this was to peel/chop/boil/singe some potatoes, so now kitchen isn`t far off Critical Mass either. (The spuds I salvaged are going in the oven soon with some soured cream, fresh chives & YS blue cheese to disguise the tang of their singedness. Should be nice with the ham I cooked the other day. I`ll deal with the pan and the rest of the carp tomorrow.
Or not.
Or some of it.
Life`s pretty much getting back to normal here!0 -
Hi Alec our poor dog kept getting the blame for the headphones until we caught one of the cats. Poor dog gets the blame for everything.
I dont think perfect homes have pets. Thats why Im part of the messy crew:D.
Iv done my chores alongside cleaning out the bird and hamster. The bird thought it a great game to bite my ears and hands. Little s****.
OH has cleaned the bathroom and dd room,ds has cleaned the kitchen. Iv also shampooed the rug in the livingroom .
Apart from the tea which were only having soup and toast thats me done.
Dd back at school in the morning so we are going to drop her off and go into Town to look at the uni where son is going.0 -
Emm I hate it when people leave everything to the last minute. My son decided to go to uni at the very last and then expects me to be wounder woman in arranging bank accounts ,filling in forms ect.
Nice for you to see your patients getting better I bet that makes your day.
Your dinner sounds lovely Emm .0 -
Emm I hate it when people leave everything to the last minute.
My daughter works in Sports Direct. Saturday, yesterday and today have been crazy in there with people doing last minute uniform shopping then moaning when the size they wanted was out of stock.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hello everyone. Can I join this thread please? I've been lurking for ages trying to pluck up the courage to post but tonight it's all got on top of me and I need help and motivation. Ive been in tears more than once tonight just at the state of the place. Am working full time, primary age child, no family and not a lot of child free time. So the place is awful, living room floor covered in stuff, dirty clothes, cds, loads of other mess, kitchen terrible, no clean dishes at all, have to wash a glasss, plate etc as I need one. No dishwasher. I have a plague of tiny flies, fruit flies I think, in the kitchen and know it's because of half cups of juice and stuff. I'm just so tired by the time DD goes to bed have no energy to do anything and no motivation as it just seems too much. Am really tired now as crying gives me sore head, throat and eyes but know in the morning I'll have to dig out clothes from somewhere, get clean dishes for DD's breakfast etc as I won't get it done tonight. I know this is an awful state to have gotten into - please give me a kick up the butt or some gentle encouragement? :-)0

Dibuzz your poor daughter must be stressed out.
ohbilmey Im sure most of us on here have been in your position at some point and still do at times. Trying to juggle work,a child and the housework by yourself isnt easy. Added to that you sound depressed.
Have you spoken to your gp if not then maybe that should be your first port of call.
Now housework thats a bane of my life ,but ,thanks to the kind folk on here who keep me motivated Its getting done.
Baby steps at first ie one drawer sorted,a corner of a room to get you started. Then as you get more time and energy the bigger things.
Id suggest first of all fill the sink with soapy water and soak the dishes overnight. Stack any other dishes by the sink.
Next if you have some vinegar pour a small amount in a dish and leave it on the side in the kitchen. Fruit flies love vinegar. Thats until they fall in and drown, lol.
Now I know your have little energy but try to get yours and your childs clothes sorted before you go to bed.
Thats all you should do. If you cant do it all just get your clothing ready.
Most of all dont beat yourself up over things.
Things I do that I find usefull;
Hang a carrier bag in each room so that you can put any rubbish laying about in it . Then when filled go around each room with a binbag and throw the carrier bag in.
The dirty clothes when you feel able to tackle them, get three binbags one for whites, one for dark colours ,one for reds/pinks. You dont have to have the third but having a girl in my house we seem to have loads of pink.
Gather up the clothing as you go around the room. Great for turning into a game with your child .
Put the bags next to the washing machine.
Get dd uniform ready and my clothing for the next day. Also find any shoes bags ect that will be needed. Kids always lose ,misplace things and ask for them at the last minute.
Write a list of things that need doing and tick off as you go along.
A tip that my dad passed on was to only keep one set of dishes for each person and the same with cups. That way you wont be using up more and ending up with a pile of them.
I also find soap powder great for soaking pans ,dishes ,top of hob when they have dried or burnt on food. Great for in the bath just fill with water add a cup of powder and leave for 20mins, Bath ends up gleaming.
Anyway Iv done some gentle motivating:D and passed on some of my pearls of wisdom, lol.
Im sure other messy club members will be on soon to give you some encouragement and support.
Take care and big hugs.0
