Ryanair Delay / Cancel Levy !!

Has anyone on here claimed for a delay/cancellation with Ryanair and received any money? I got nothing for the ash cloud delay.0

Yep, couldn't come soon enough - although I don't hold out much hope, this is the EU we're talking about!
Gone ... or have I?0 -

If you are specifically referring to compensation following the ash cloud delay, then the airline is not obliged to pay compensation as such. If you are referring to reimbursement of expenses incurred, then you might want to look at the last few pages of this thread for a number of successes: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2552467
Yes, it seems people are having to take Ryanair to court to get their money. Mine was a simple claim for expenses submitted over a year ago by post, and then resubmitted using their webform on their request. Not a penny received, but I will have to pay the £2 fee. So, I am paying them for my delay!!
It would be interesting to know how much/little Ryanair pay out per year in compensation and to compare this to the £2 per flight fee that they are now charging. Looking at their passenger numbers, this new £2 charge will make them about £150M a year.0 -

The figures are given here:

saying it is to cover costs rather than to make profit. They also indicate that it will reduce/increase pro-rata in the future as their compensation spend changes.0 -
Well ive been checking my desired flights for a few weeks now and just noticed this today, but happy to say the price hasnt increased once. so im happy. as long as the price dont change before i book

It seems to me that O'Leary's briefing note on the Delay / Cancel Levy is more a muscle flexing exercise than anything else, O'Leary trying to demonstrate that he is more powerful than national governments and the EU. Perhaps he should be thinking of Microsoft and Intel, they thought the same, it cost them dearly, a fine of 500 million Euros would surely wipe the smile off his face. Consumer protection is a hot potato in Spain which has lagged behind for many years in that field. Now it's catching up and as a result of his antics he is in the spotlight. If he doesn't like the law of Spain he should pull out and leave us in peace. One thing is certain, telling any government in Europe that what he does is OK in Ireland when it isn't in say Spain, Germany, Poland etc. is not going to go down well. EU legislation is desperately needed to force him to advertise a price with all the compulsory charges included and the basic optional charges (taking one suitcase) too. Malaga Brussels return for 2, 4x8€ finished up at over 500€. It's really not on. The Admin fee of 6€ is an outright con. Imagine Tesco/Carrefour charging you 6€ to enter the store to make a purchase, that's exactly what O'Leary is doing with the admin fee.0

Explain how 4 X 8 euro flights ended up at 500 Euro ? I don't believe it.
Its a pity Spain were not so hot on consumer rights when the Valencia government was bulldozing innocent folks homes under their quirky and fraudulent interpretation of the Land Grab Legislation in favour of the big developers whose pockets they were in.0 -
I read the briefing note on the Ryanair website and found it embarrassing. Perhaps he would like to stop operating in the EU if he doesn't like EU rules?! This £2 fee will annoy people every time they book, and I believe will turn people against Ryanair more than the EU (after all the EU's rules are about protecting customers).0

What is it anyway? Also now they you have to pay £6.00:mad: to check in online, and all you can do is to check in online. I travel regularly in long haul first class and the difference between international and domestic is so different. Also I just flew on BA and Ryanair and the difference between is so big, the cabin crew on BA were lovely and the crew on Ryanair were rude to me! :mad:Also the seats on BA are really nice, in addition BA fly to main airports.:D The differences between BA and Ryanair are so big. Please pay a bit more but you will get a lot more!:beer:0

of course they are nice to you first class long haul. At £5K rtn ,the least you can expect is a smile. The seat is probably a bit better too. but at 50 times the cost, its not 50 times bigger is it? so I dont think it is a credible comparison.
I have never had a member of Ryanair staff being rude to me.Then again I've never been rude to them either.0
