Another vote for Copenhagen Candles from me too. I get mine from TKMaxx as they always have a good selection of fragrances at good prices. Their Reed Diffusers are also amongst the most fragrant I have come across. My absolute favourite is the Seville Orange one.
Also keep an eye on the clearance shelf in TKMaxx - I have often picked up a bargain candle just 'cos the lid was missing or label peeling off, etc."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Well I went on a smellathon today and settled for a copenhagen candle in a tin "Fresh Linen" and a Reed diffuser same make, aromatherapy "Relaxing".Treat other's how you like to be treated.

I know these are not candles, and that is the subject of the thread, but has anyone tried the Ashleigh and Burwood fragrance lamps? http://www.ashleigh-burwood.co.uk/ashleigh-and-burwood.html. I had never heard of them until my DD bought me one for my birthday a couple of years back. The "lamps" don't come cheap (around £26 for the small one) nor does the lamp fragrance (around £11) but they smell divine and the scent lingers in the air for ages after you have "snuffed" it.
My two favourite scents are Relaxation and Moroccan Spice. I know the initial outlay seems expensive but maybe if someone asks for ideas for your birthday pressie?! Ideally I would like another for the bathroom but, till someone treats me, I'll settle for candles in there!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. How do people manage to use the whole candle if it's in a jar and impossible to trim?
I had a lovely one this year, where the last third was wasted as I couldn't light it,Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Another way is to inhale deeply when sniffing you own skin as it will neutralise your nasal sense..
I am a huge fan of Partylite candles but they are very expensive.. I tend to use Yankee but am popping to a TK Maxx today so will see if I can see any Copenhagen ones.. I am just fed up of buying cheaper ones that only smell for 5 minutes!0 -
My guilty pleasure! I spend far too much on home fragrance!
Generally, I find burning oil in a ceramic burner gives the most intense fragrance. But some people find it too strong. Perhaps burn for short periods or when you don't need to sit in the room with the burner for a long period (watch unattended candles though!). Crabtree & Evelyn fragrances for me, especially Nantucket Briar. The scent seems to linger and I wonder if it scents soft furnishings? Often, the living room smells best first thing in the morning, even though the burner has been out for 7-8 hours.
I find that candles have a softer/gentler fragrance, which is not immediately noticeable - although visitors often get an immediate whiff.
I tend to use candles for a "background" scent and the oil for a more "in yer face" experience
I'm currently burning a dozen candles (Yankee, Wedding Day) right now. Tend to use those sampler candles and bought a job-lot of clear class holders for them, from an online janitorial supplies company. I get the Yankee candles from e-bay, although it's impossible to find them at a hugely-discounted price. But I buy 200 at a timeand the ebay sellers will usually do a deal for that quantity.

How do you use these lamps? I have seen them in the shops and love the look of them but there were no instructions on how to light and use them - thanks0 -

Wick goes down in to bottle of scented oil. The scented oil travels up to the top of the wick, which is lit. As the wick burns, it burns the scented oil.
Lampe Berger is an alternative. Beautiful lamps, but with prices to match!Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
