I love candles! Esp Yankee. I buy the wax tarts & they last for days. For winter I do buy the festive ones & I love the black cherry ones. I have a box full of tarts & votives I stock up on during the summer.

I also stock up on the Glade candles - only when they're on offer though!

Which smelly candles do you recommend? I love Yankee candles but they are a bit pricy, would love to have a nice smelling one but not sure which one

Yankee candles are a bit expensive aren't they?
to be completely honest - I have found some expensive candles to smell awful to me - and some really cheap candles smell lovely! I like to wander round those little shops that sell Witchy stuff or local stuff? and the nicest candles I have ever smelled were from a small gift shop in Amroth in Pembrokeshire. I bought loads and gave them all as gifts - and cant remember the maker! Does anyone else know - they were gorgeous and called something like Sea Breeze?????????

last Christmas the kids bought me an enormous candle in a glass jar, with three wicks and its by the Copenhagen Candle Company - it smells deliciously of roses! the item number is 9014 and if you like roses or Turkish Delight, you will love it! I haven't lit it and have kept lid on it unless I wanted to scent the room.........and a year on its still going strong!

Love Yankee candles except for the price, I bought a woodwick one from eBay but was not happy with that one, the wick wasn't central and it burnt very badly, settled for a partial refund.
    Does anyone like M&S candles?

just googled the Copenhagen Candle Company and it looks like they sell to 'traders'.
I love that candle and I think my DD got it from a local garden centre. she usually gets my Christmas gift from them as they sell lovely handmade or good quality gifts.

I love Wax Lyrical candles. I have been buying when it has been free postage and getting lovely candles in tins for £2.50 each. I got quite a lot as presents before Christmas.

The MSE way is to start in a pound shop and work your way up.

I have found some amazing smellies in supermarkets (usually Sainsbos and Mr Ts) at knock-down prices, which I then buy in quantity if like the scent. I wouldn't dream of wasting my money on Yankees.

Eta: I like having a nicely scented and tranquil-feeling home, but as Meryn Somerset-Webb points out, a candle is not going to make you happy. The cost of Jo Malone candles (for example) is just bonkers.

I have had the yankee candle tea lights, but I can't really smell them. I do like lavender best. I did get one for Christmas though the label says Desire Lavender and lime. Unfortunately I can't help with a stockist as itwas a present, but itsgot to be worth a search.

There are some Yankee outlet shops across the country and you can get some good deals on the tarts and candles. They are usually based in the 'designer outlet' shopping centres. Also there are some online retailers that do some good deals on the products.
