It's been declared a write off unfortunately, i think it may have been scrapped by now.0

It's been declared a write off unfortunately, i think it may have been scrapped by now.
It's only a write off in the eyes of the insurer and his repairer who arn't going to be paying for it anyway so their opinion is of no interest or value.
The car belongs to you, and unless you gave permission for it to be scrapped has been disposed of without your knowledge which could be tantamount to theft.
It's been a hard lesson for the OP, but should be grateful that a third party wasn't hurt or worse, as this could have been a pay for life (literaly) scenario.0 -
To the op I am sorry to hear that you had an accident and unfortunately have learnt the hard way about not telling insurers about important facts. I hope you can sort things out.
However I did want to pick up on the classic 'insurers never pay out' moan from some posters. It's absolutely true that insurers will scrutinise claims to make sure that they are only paying out for fair and reasonable claims but as someone who buys insurance (and plays fair by telling them the truth) then this is a good thing. I am like most people here I don't like paying for insurance but if I have to I want to know I am paying a fair price and not subsidising other people who are not being honest. So frankly it surprises me when I read threads like this at how many people side with the person who hasn't played fair - I can only assume this means they are happy to subsidise other people's insurance which really surprises me! Or maybe they are people who also choose not to play fair and think other people should subsidise their insurance......0 -
The other thing I want to know is how likely I am to to get a finance deal. I now have a ccj etc and have been refused a renewal on my bank loan. How strict are the companies with regards to credit for a car?Hi I am having a similar problem, without any money for deposit. I have just checked my credit rating and it is 550 i have no ccjs or late payments although i have a default. Does anyone know if i would be able to get car finance?
Sorry for butting in
Kate

I've never heard of this before, does it happen a lot?
Surely Ford should have a massive recall in operation.
It can happen if the mechanism is faulty, I've heard of that before.0 -

Thanks, been involved in motor/ trucking all my life and never heard of it happening. I know of people who for whatever reason accidentally took the key out . . [shakes head]
Must have been in a bad/ very worn condition to happen.0 -
