It would be on DVLA's systems? Don't assume that insurers won't check with DVLA because they'd do anything if it would mean they wouldn't need to pay out.

Insurers don't check when they are taking your money as they are more than happy to take your money!
They check when you claim, as they can then refuse to pay out if they find anything.
In a nutshell, they are there to make money and are happy to take it from you, but woe betide anybody who has not told the truth when you want to claim

I agree. I hate insurance companies as much as the next person but they are just a business after all, their only concern is to make as much money as possible while minimizing outgoings.

I'll only use insurance companies when I'm forced to.. in cases such as driving.

It's called making light of the situation. I've already said I know it's stupid, there's no real need for you to add your stupidity into the equation. Thanks.

Exactly. They will in all probability have known full well when they ran my claim through. That's why I say I feel like I've been had, because the likely hood is that they've been happy taking my money knowing full well they'd have nothing to pay out if I had an accident. I'd have been happy to pay the extra if they'd asked me, so long as it meant I was covered.

You haven't been "had". It's your responsibility to inform them of your 6 points. Ignorance isn't an excuse unfortunately.

Best advice is to buy a couple of hundred from someone (family) and buy a £500 car with 12 months MOT and use it. There are bargains to be had at that price.

    And tell the insurers everything

You won't get a car on PCP with a CCJ, although technically you're hiring the car for 3 years, it's still finance at the end of the day. Plus you'd probably be declined the free insurance offer because of whats happened.
