Hi all,
I think this has been ask before but i cant find it. I know that when you click on a link for a comp , the page info says it comes from here. Do you think this has any effect on winning competitions.
Hope that makes sense.:DComping for christmas xThankyou to all posters0 -
Some feel that it does but opinion is much divided. It has been mentioned that having AdBlock Plus prevents the site seeing where traffic originates from.
Other ways of getting around any site traffic monitoring are just to C&P the comp address in a new tab or enter by starting at the site home page & not via any direct link posted on here.
Personally I have AdBlock Plus on one PC but enter lots via IE,with no AdBock on a spare Pc and I win a fair bit.My biggest wins were just by plain entering via here.0 -
Just wondering does anybody get put off entering competitions for holidays? By that I mean do you think "I won't be able to go because of spending money" or don't you bother about that and just worry about it if you won the competition?
I enter competitions for all inclusive holidays but those which are just the holiday and flights I tend to avoid.
im somewhat different and leave the holidays that dont give you flights, as that these days is the largest chunk cost wise of a holiday. Depending on where you can almost always find a cheap hotel thats safe and has what you need (bed, four walls and a door that locks) and cheap places to grab a bite.Insert smart witty comment here0 -

I wasn't aware that Adblock does this job but the FF add-on RefControl is specifically for that purpose. You can set different requirements for different sites. Personally, I couldn't be bothered to keep setting the options. I don't mostly bother to block the "referrer" details but when I do wish to do so, I merely drag and drop the link on to the tab bar which then opens a new tab and the link without referring site details, same as the copy & paste but a bit quicker. However this only works for FF and not IE.0 -
Cheers for the tip thingamaBob
Re adblock I think it was mentioned on here as being able to block tracking & the FF page seems to conform that.https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/?application=firefox&id=1865
Yours does sound a more firm approach though.Thanks.0 -

i hope no one minds, but I've been taking a few days break, and was sad to realise that we hadn't said thank you to Princess Pixiedust, so I've started a little thread in IWIW, hope thats ok, xxx
E: Ongoing: Princess Pixiedust Appreciation ThreadMy light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly
Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx0 -
Cheers to all for the help that I have received on this board, from many members. In light of this thread & this plus the comments arising via personal messages from the other party via pm in the last few days I feel that I should cease posting for a few days.A time for reflection may be due to me & the other party. This will further help me to understand the motivation behind the ambivalence of these comments.
I feel that I have always worked in the best interest of this boards functioning & continued endurance but this is not apparent in the comments received from the other party.
I am more than willing to post all details of of the messages received, although this may be construed as unethical.I do feel that the messages were a little rude but that is just my view. Some may agree with the vitriol that have have I had to read in these pm's & open forum posts but I do not.
"Flame Wars" etc have always been very absent from this board & long may that ethos endure.
The regular sites that I post from can be noted via search so If others wish to post that is fine with me.
All the best.0
