I thought it was ON topic, as the reason we're struggling is because of world politics. That and the environment/weather - and while you can't choose your weather, you CAN choose your government! ;)

I usually vote Green - it's a protest vote against the big 3, and puts my little pin in the *enviroment issues* camp.

Fully agree - one cant "ignore politics" - because "politics doesnt ignore us" and it is (as you say) well...certainly...part of the reason why we are where we are now..

Do any of you knowledgable ladies (and gentlemen if any reading) know where I can buy larger quantities of Epsom Salts than the 200grm tub Boots sell ? I'm a bit hesitant to use Amazon or ebay for anything like this just in case it's not the real stuff :o , but I'm suffering mightily with menopausal joint and muscle pain and have read that adding a couple of cups of these to a bath can be very soothing...... I'm also sufferring severe menopausal bad temper too but don't suppose it will help with that! :D
I get mine from summernaturals in 2kg bags. start off adding a teacup full to a bath, then gradually build up until you find the right concentration for you. You're supposed to lie back and rest in the bath for 15 minutes (I read a book). They can wipe you out completely, so make sure you're ready for bed before you get into the bath and head straight there afterwards! I also take magnesium citrate tablets before bed as they make me tired, so taking them first thing doesn't work... be warned though, they have the opposite effect on some people, so you need to work out whether you need to take them in the morning or the evening!

  • Evening all. Hard not to get political in these times, isn't it?

Well first the bad news - I will be losing my second job at the end of the month - the old gent I do some housekeeping for will be having his daughter move in then, so won't need me. I'm glad for him, as he will be better off both financially and more comfortable. He's a nice chap so I will keep in touch.

Now the good news - I have won an overnight break for DD and me, not got all the details yet, but will hopefully be a theatre break to London, 5 star hotel - whoopeee!!! DD has never been to London and it is ages since I've been - we will be real country hicks in town. Will try to take the OH as well, but if not he will be cat sitting.

Glad I got a little ahead on the council tax and started stocking up anyway. Will try to pick up another job asap.

taurusgb - I had an early menopause and when I was offered HRT I didn't feel too happy about it (just a personal opinion), so I went to the library and took out every book I could find on the subject. I found that 'Natural Alternatives to HRT' by Marilyn Glenville was really helpful - it does what it says on the tin - I followed some of the advice and had virtually no symptoms. It might be worth seeing if your local library has it or can order you a copy. My feeling was that making a few tweaks to my lifestyle and taking a few supplements for a while wasn't going to do me any harm so it had to be worth a go and I was really glad I did.
