  • Hi catspaw

I hope you have managed to sort the situation.

I gave my opinion before which remains the same - you need to leave if he won't. Your DD should not be scared of a man who you have invited to live with you.

I actually think she should ring the police - it is assault!!

Thanks everyone, I should go but I need to money first to get the deposit. I have been trying to work out if I can afford this place on my own and won't really know till the bills come in soon.

I probably could but it would mean the debt free date would suffer big time:(

Done a few calculations and if I up my loan payment by £50 a month I can clear it by Feb next year as opposed to July. That would then free me to put it towards another debt....the big WF one......that cleared will be another 6 years though.

Or I can clear all the others and then throw all the extra money at that one, but that would mean clearing the others before the end of next summer to hopefully get the WF one gone by 3 years time.

    Suggestions please folks!!!!!

On the plus side of things, the DD's are back in school:rotfl::T

I have fresh chilli's growing from my recent planting, the chilli's and peppers on my other plants are going strong, the starwberrys are looking good and I have a wounderful smell of bread throughout the house.
and so, onto the housework lol
Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

I have removed some of your previous post in my quote above but the main parts are still there.

You won't like what I have to say but I cannot believe you are putting your debt free date above the welfare of your child :mad::eek::mad:

It is beyond my comprehension that a parent would not put their child first for any reason - I do have experience of this. My old best friend from school; her mum met a man who was a known danger to children and when social services were involved they gave her an option that it was either the children or her new man and would you believe she chose the man :eek::mad:
My friend and her siblings have never forgiven their mum and their relationship is very strained - do not let this be you and your DD :(

I apologise for any offence and I understand the mantra of be nice to other moneysavers and believe me this is me being nice.
  • EE I don't take offence (the gate and the house maybe:))

Sometimes what I say isn't always how I mean it to come out.

He has to go I know that.
What I meant to say is if I stay here I am going to struggle to live let alone anything else. I would ahve to walk 13miles each way to save on petrol/train fair, and would still struggle to pay the bills

I have to get the deposit together to move, I have noone who is in a psoition to help me. The only real problem to this is a car fine that followed me after a move and the courts have demaned £180 a month after seeing my soa.......I have no idea how they worked it out, but I think it was on the possibiliy of commission.

I have to save £3K for a deposit for a 2 or 3 bed place, and that's because the ex landlord has put out to all the agencies that I didn't pay my rent and therefore they won't accept me, so it has to be a private rental.

What ever happens at the moment I am stuck, I have nobody who would let me and kids kip on their floor. Nearest relative is 2 hrs away (not much good for the kids schooling and as it is exam year I am not changing schools for them) and the only friend I have in the area has a 1 bed flat ( not really suitable for adding an extra adult and 2 kids).
The local womans aid can't help and the council are refusing to.......it is counted as making yourself homeless and they won't help with a bond as I am working.

I have no idea what to do now, i know if i can't pay the bills once he is gone then we will be homeless.
I have been looking for property since June and not coming up with anything, I have even be considering a 1 bed flat, DD's can have the bedroom and I will have the sofa.

  • Hi Catspaw

I kind of see what you are saying now but still am not sure I agree.

This car fine you have, how much is it in total? Is it a bailiff who is collecting the debt? If it is have they been round to your house?

If you did not pay your minimum payments on your debts would you be able to manage the day to day bills.

If the bloke you are living with left would you get more child and/or working tax credit? Would you be entitled to any Housing Benefit?

Could you start to save with a local credit union? Once you have been saving with them they can loan to you at 3 times what you have saved which might help?

Could you post up a SOA for your expenses now with bloke's income as well and then one for what it would be like when he goes?
  • Just wondering if you have ever had a council/housing association property? If you did what happened to it?

Could you get on the housing list? Do you know the criteria of the Housing List? In our area we are given a banding and then have to bid on two properties a week and the higher up the banding the quicker you get housed?

What the council told you is not strictly true, they would not accept you as homeless as you would have left this place voluntarily but that does not mean you can't have a property from them!

  • Hi EE,

Hva never had a council property. At one point I did won my own home but briefly as negative equity and a divorce meant it had to be sold with only £500 out of it to come back to me.

I have spoken to the council and all though I am on the list it is the lowest priority and the onl property that comes up with i'm suitable for is 35 miles away:( oh well I have to keep on going.

They will not help with rent/bond as I am working and don't qualify due to my salary......which isn't the best.

When he leave I will get probably £20 week extra, I could then pay the min of maybe £10 an month across the bills. Once the bank loan is paid and the car fine it would make life a lot easier.

    Rent is £1300
Ctax £150 though that would go down with 1 person
Elec/gas £150 (some arears- didn't have a bill last winter fo 6 months even though I was chasing every week)
    Water/sewage (2 speartae bills) -£65

Then food and petrol and extra school stuff and debts as well.

Today is a cleaning day and maybe some blackberry picking to make blackberry muffins/apple and blackberry tarts as it is that kind of day that makes warm food a must

And fatcat made a concerted effort to get next doors dog, which scared the poor thing......don't think he was used to having such a large cat jump on him form the fence....ok, he didn't mean to jump off the fence but it was amusing to watch both of them, almost a tom and jerry moment
