:eek::eek: Hope they've been removed (and it didn't cost the earth):eek::eek:Hello everyone,
I've just bought my own house and I'm paying a mortgage for the first time!! Doing my best to live on a strict budget... all of your tips and hints will be so helpful, I realise this quarter is almost up...so maybe I could join in from July?weesmiler x
Welcome aboard!A day of mini frugal successes here at Gnat Bottomed Towers. OH has bottled our parsnip wine and our Merlot...we now erm have 56 bottles:D:D
mmmmm, that sounds good!
Well, up @ 5am:eek: for a car boot - very busy but sales not great. Everyone wanted everything for 50p:(. I know money's tight but when you've got stuff that's cost a fair bit of money (some of it brand new) then there's just no way ......
I decided before I went that if it was a "50p day" I'd bring it back, box it up and take up to the cat shelter for them to sell in their shop.
I'd much rather that then give someone a £25 brand new (whatever) for 50p when they're probably going to go home and try to flog it on e*bay.
Anyway, costs covered and about £40 profit (will pay for the dog's check up tomorrow).
It wasn't just us as when we were leaving loads of the cars were still packed with stuff.
Just noticed that I've loads of pea pods comingso looking like a bumper crop! (that's if I can ever leave enough to pick as it's just soooooo tempting to grab a handful every time I go past - they taste great from the pods)!
Plan for tomorrow (took day off as will be totally knackered after today) - finalising the 1/2 year results on the SoW(!), catching up on housework, checking new properties on the market and vet with dog late afternoon.
I might even treat myself to a take-a-way on the way back from the vets if there's anything left from the profits today - have yet to have one this year!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250

Don't think Marmalade is feeling too bad - she tried to run off with a whole chicken!
Luckily it was still wrapped and bagged! Here dead we lie because we did not choose

Tips for Giving Up Smoking
Please excuse this post as I have never been a smoker.
I have no wish to cause offence to anyone on this thread.
I would imagine that you already know about nicotine patches & that they are available on the national health in Scotland for free.
Also the following site looks useful:
http://smokefree.nhs.uk/what-suits-me/local-nhs-services/findlocal-nhs-services
Anyway different people go about kicking their habit in different ways.
Good Luck to kicking the habit.0 -
No offence but done the patches and the nasal spray (strongest NRT you can get from chemist) and ended up psychotic after 20 hours or less or both...
So with all it's quirks and randomness I'll stick to e-cig..:D
Even if that does mean I have my run ins with folks...
And yes I'm in Scotland and take offence @ the above cos I already knew about the free prescriptions...would do but would rather not be psychotic for the sake of a legal drug...
seems like the Frugals are after me again for spending money yet others they turn a blind eye too..I'm not stupid. I know this thread is run by sectarianists... (known it since the cyber bullying of last year in fact)
E
pS. Someone off my e-cig forum is sending me two drip tips to try for free...(drip tips help you drip the nicotine liquid into the cart or mouthpiece)
I believe in the power of PAD

I don't think anyone is having a go for you spending money - if you pay for something to stop smoking I think that's money well spent as it's a horrible habit (reformed smoker, so allowed to say that!!) I managed to quit cold turkey, but it was horrendous. People who have commented have only been concerned for you health, at least the way I've read it, as they worried you were getting something unregulated.
You're doing really well with the quitting anyway - just don't get addicted to the e-cig insteadI know someone who still uses nicotine gum after a couple of years of being a "non-smoker"

Erme I think you are being oversensitive here - someone was just trying to help.
Make sure you stay well. xxxHere dead we lie because we did not choose

I should be in bed, but watching Beyonce on Glastonbury and having serious leg-envy.
Then again, if I looked like that, I'd walk around in a sequined jacket and pants too.
How's your moggy?0 -

Morning peeps
Had a rough couple of days. One of the kittens died:( he was very small and I spent hours latching him on to mum to make sure he got fed, bought some top up milk and hand fed him as well. Then he got some umbilical cord stuck in his mouth and it cut the oxygen to his brain. I am beside myself as I only went out for 1 hour!!! Mum was going mad trying to sit on him and feed him it was heartbreaking. She kept looking for him and so we put a little monkey (pj tips) in with her that seemed to settle her down a little but it was a really awful time. I know I am too soft and these things happen but it does not make it easy:(
DH ex is kicking off again. His boys live with us full time but she gets access in the holidays. She is as awkward as possible and demands that we jump to attention when she wants them. I tried sending suitable alternatives as the peace keeper but no joy so we will probably be back at court again. Last bill totalled thousands and we had to pay £500 a month to clear. We could have paid the mortgage off if we did not have four years of legal bills.
Tenants in my house messaged last night to say the runner was broken on a drawer in the kitchen and "do I want them to get someone in to fix it and they will send me the bill?"........Well no I don't want a £50 to have a drawer runner fixed, I will get one and fix it myself but they will have to wait til the weekend:mad: Some people are unbelievable they already get cheap rent with full BG cover so everything is fixed straight away grrrrrrr when I rented I had to wait a week for the boiler to be fixed never mind a drawer runner:mad::mad:
Please note we are not well off having two houses. We both had to pay through the nose to keep our houses before we met and when I moved in with DH my house was not worth selling so we went down the "we will rent it to pay the mortgage route"
DH is away and went late last night so waiting for it all to kick off while I am alone with all the kids and cats and two houses to run, on my own:(
I try not to put anything too personal on here but just needed to get it off my chest I suppose........sorry.
As for the smoking debate........each to their own.......I would roll the rug up and smoke that if I ran out of fags at the moment:rotfl:
Really sorry for the monday morning rant xxxxxx0
