Huge hugs to rising and ruby. I've coped with human illness far better than animal illness - you feel so helpless don't you. Erme, your ecig sounds a completely different thing to what my daughter had, and I'm puzzled about the fact you dilute the "juice" with vodka!!!!

It seems to be costing you a fortune as well, but just take care, won't you.

    Hello fellow frugallers:j
Those kittens are seriously high in the cute department:D Ruby and Rising from the Ashes- sorry to hear about your beloved pets. I know it's part of the natural cycle of having pets but it never gets any easier does it. Having been through it though I still wouldn't be without a pet. A close friend who lost her much loved pet last summer swore she would never be able to go through it again- one year later and she is about to get a rescue cat and is absolutely thrilled.

More good news here at Gnat Bottomed Towers- unbeknown to us friends of ours decided to use the same solar panel company as us and we have today received a referral fee of £300. It will cover our holiday next month. Woo hoo! A small investment has been made here today- we went to a free folk festival but I have invested 500 pennies in two cards of prints of a local artist whose work I love. I saw these a couple of years ago but the big prints were £20 and I couldn't justify it. Now I have smaller versions and best of all a free frame to put them in which was wombled from a box outside our local art shop marked help yourself. Result:j:j

PS Thank you so much for your kind messages about my impending redundancy. I really appreciate your support oh fab fellow frugallers!

  • hmm, iffy frugal day - free lunch as I did some website work for the cafe owner, bought a pair of linen trousers (20%) off that need returning 'cos they are too big and 2 dresses from Oasis that were reduced from £45 each to £10 each! It's my weekend off my son and I went to a gig tonight but only had a pint 'cos I was driving, I would have spent £20 on drink if I wasn't so this is a healthier option :-)
Still don't know about DLA so really should not be spending.

It probably isn't....but it's just a different set up and at the beginning I needed high nic to avoid psychosis - hence I went on it....I'm now down to 29mg/ml and I started on 30mg/ml....

According to my 'e-cig person' - it costs you a lot in the beginning whilst you try out various different bits of kit.....Right now it's near enough eating batteries so the choice is between one of buy some more 3.7v batteries or buy a new mod box..(£15 and the former is £10)...that's all I need for now and some drip tips (about £10 but they're not urgent)..I have enough juice in and cartos.....they're not a prob...

Had a fab run and walk down the beach yesterday....tired but happy this am on 5 hours sleep......just sore with a blister..

...and made my earrings... (total cost about £1.50)..:D

I'm hoping the e-cig will be all sorted in a few weeks and I can debt bust. Right now am saving for holidays in 4 weeks time :)..Budgeting £300 for 10 days including food and accommodation....Pray it's enough....Budgeting £40 for 2 days food etc in Edinburgh as we're in the no frills easy hotel so everything bar basic bed costs....

Anyhow please don't worry about me...it's really not necessary. If I was going to poison myself with the e-cig it would have happened by now :rotfl:

Not a very frugal start to the week ........ a neighbour phoned to say we had a huge "wasp-a-thon" in our front garden, and after peeping out the windows, sure enough they are all having a party, gaily flying in a handy gap by the bungalow bargeboards.:eek::eek:

Someone is on his way down now, but couldn't estimate or guesstimate till he arrives. Anyone have any idea what the likely cost for Sunday service, is likely to be please?

DH reckons we'll be lucky to see change out of £100 after VAT and "unsocial hours" has been added on, but I shall willingly pay that for peace of mind! (I still shudder when I recall when I was stung by a wasp on an underground train, 47 years ago, and it flew down my bra ......... )

So sorry Sandra - had to laugh at the last line!

Hope the cost doesn't sting too much.

Mini spend here - chicken from M and S and stocked up on some soya milk and herbal tea buy one buy one half price in H and B.

Usually prefer to support my local health food store but needs must.

Will be going back in the week to stock up on Rochester Ginger Wine and floradix for sickly daughter who got cold sores and Tonsillitis the minute she stopped taking it!

    Hello fellow frugallers:j
A day of mini frugal successes here at Gnat Bottomed Towers. OH has bottled our parsnip wine and our Merlot...we now erm have 56 bottles:D:D He also came back from Mr T proudly brandishing the bargains he'd found in the whoopsie section which he has now portioned into meals [sausages] and frozen.

We've taken full advantage of the lovely weather we've had and done and dried all the washing outside [held off from yesterday]. I've made a lemon drizzle cake whilst the oven was on for our roast which we will be enjoying with our home grown herbs and our first ever shallots and round carrots:T:T

A frugal tip- if you have a child in the scouting movement our Millets gives 10% off anything provided you produce their scarf as proof. We used it to get a discount on his waterproof jacket which was well worth having so might be worth asking in your local store
