Hello fellow frugallers:j
Welcome to Cutiepie- the more the merrier!
Unfortunately I have been given my redundancy letter today- makes it feel real so am a bittoday. However, onwards and upwards. Enjoyed a few small frugal successes at Gnat Bottomed Towers yesterday- wrapped my sister's birthday present in some calendar pages [paintings of cats] rather than wrapping paper, found £1 and a 5p on the pavement and cut open my toothpaste to ensure that I get every last little bit out:D Tonight I am going to be finishing off some hankies I've made from an old pillowcase aswell as sitting down with OH whilst the small person is out to make some frugal plans.
Arilx
I haven't read to the end yet but never mind...commiserations Aril (but you sound amazingly extra-frugal, well done!), congratulations Puddleglum and welcome to Cutipie.
I try NEVER to break shoes in and always to have them comfortable from the start (which usually means they are fine when I try them on, then the first time I go for a walk it's agony).
Noticed recently that my thanks button wasn't working properly so have gone back and re-thanked. Anyone else having this problem?'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Yup - been having problems with the "thanks" button too (thought it was me!) - I did a load of thanks the other day, posted and then they'd all disappeared. Tried to re-thank but apologies if I've missed anyone!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I've got a pair of fit flops and am very happy with them. they did give me bit of lower backache for a bit but I took that as new muscles being worked! But I think one reason I'm so happy is they were from a charity shop so only £1.00!!flying_fresian wrote: »Ooft, I remember breaking in my Docs, the pain was unreal :rotfl: That being said, I still wear them and got them for the first time when I was 16 - I'm 30 now. I love my Docs
Me too! I had the shoe versions first for a couple of years too. I called it 'bleeding them in'
Nota frugal day... We,re volunteering at Glastonbury festival next week and I needed to stock up things like cupsasoup and mug shots, loo roll etc.. heat mats for animals and a nielson scanner for my shopping - which i havent had the time to sort yet i just dontk now where to put it!!
in our bedroom we have one plug trhe other one is broken but i have to have a four way plug on it and off that stuff for heat mats plus the tv the ps3 when hubby uses it and he charges his phone there.he use to just flick the switch before sleep but now he has to pull out plugs which means he now tends to leave things plugged in!!!Frugal living challenge - need to revisit its been.a while !! Need to reduce our debts!!0 -
I am quite cross with myself - got my mobile bill and it is double what it usually is as I had exceeded my allowance! I did have a spare sim in case I ever go over but I've lost it!
Also I have been accidentally leaving quite a few thinks on standby lately. I don't know why - I don't usually. Here dead we lie because we did not choose

Me - I like Fitflops:D
I found the flip flop version of Fitflop brand fine too. I'd previously bought that expensive German brand (cant recall name) and had to chuck them because the bit rubbed so between my big toe and next one. I've also had problems with rubbing with various other brands as well.
I was fine from day one with the Fit Flop ones though and I really go for that range of footwear personally.0 -
i'm sorry i forgot to say comiserations to Aril, i now know how horrible it is to be made redundant. i hope something else comes along.
~~
re my charity shop fit flops.. i think they are real brand ones, and they were unworn (no scuffs at all on bottom, which i made after 1/2 a day of wear). i still rubbed them over with tea tree oil just to be safe.
am at home today... my redepolyed job isnt as many hours. lots of housework and unpacking (move) and repacking (festival) to do. and a friend has invited me over... i only ever seem to go there, which is fine as we're still in a pickle. but it means i have to take cake every time. oh well. maybe my headache will abate enough for me to rustle one up instead of buying one.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Have just read through all of the many pages that I have missed. Been so busy, house is a bombsite and am about to attack it (for the first time in ages). Still have no hot water or heating, it's been almost a month now - am getting quite used to it tbh. Have managed to get a day off work (nothing short of a miracle) as it is DD2's sports day (she got a 1st, 2nd and 3rd so she is very happy). The other good news here is that I have got a pay rise!! Whoo hoooo.. works out about 2K a year - every little helps. Have a great day everyone. x0

A mini spend for me today on a nice pair of jeans from the charity shop, bin liners and kitchen roll from the pound shop.
I will cobble something together for dinner.
Free listing on ebay this weekend - I shall try and get round to it!Here dead we lie because we did not choose
