Afternoon peeps
Reading the latest posts has reminded me I need to renew my driving licence (another stealth tax IMO) and so I will have to have some new pics done (hate having it done and hate paying £5) So unless I want to look like captain caveman on my licence for the next few years I must make a trip to the hairdressers!! I am not keen on hairdressers or the dentist and mine are opposite each other!!! misery lane I call it:rotfl:
Went to a strange place this morning.........good idea I think.
One of the old dears at the jumble I went to at the weekend asked if I went to the monday auction and that I should go as sometimes you get some right bargains!!
Not knowing what expect I trundled off to have a nosey.
In a pub car park. People bring a load of stuff they do not want and it is put in small lots. Most of this was junk (left over car boot things) but they also had plants, shrubs, home grown veg, fruit and hanging baskets. I thought this was quite a good idea. I have never bid on food before!!! The man who runs it gets a little commission off the buyer and the seller and they local old dears get a morning out!! Everyone was really nice.
I stood and watched the different people and realised there are some people that really help them selves and when times are tough they muddle round and make the most of what they have. There were no young people there so it just shows this is a dying art for most (not all) youngsters. ( I am the ripe old age of 38)
Talking of boobs the melons went for 50p a pair:rotfl:
going to try and get on with some washing now the rain has let up!!0 -

I'm also probably being very touchy about what people choose to spend their benefits on, because as redglass rightly says, it's theirs to spend on whatever they like. It's just this lady was saying she got so much in benefits, that there was ample for her to save £7000 for her implants.
It just seemed a tad unfair to me that there were people going to work, and paying taxes on their earnings, in order to fund her breasts.
xx
I completely get you...I mean I've misinterpreted stuff on here in the past and it's easy done.....and I really didn't mean to upset you.... And when it hurts - just because it's online doesn't mean it hurts any less...
Anyhow treated myself to a new pair of earrings I had the fun of making today....from the bead shop (cos I'm entering an earring phase and I'd lost one of my favourite ones)...total cost of earrings = £1.35 cos I already had the pliers
..Yay...My kind of treat
If you want to see a pic search for my other posts. I don't want to come across as full of myself when I'm no better than anyone else so like choose not to post a pic on here

I have just one hairdresser who really suits me, so I have to pay her rates if I want that good haircut.
This is now my issue Redglass. I first went to Trevor Sorbie which is ridiculously expensive as a treat.
I hate going to the hairdresser at the best of times - being stuck in a chair making small talk but my hairdresser did an absolutely wonderful job of my hair which had gone crazily frizzy due to medication and she was also such a lovely person. I have Bipolar and her mother has mental health issues so she was very understanding and also sensitive to whether you want to chat or just relax. She also has the most amazing memory considering I don't go for months at a time.
I'm really pleased with my hair now which has calmed down and looks great thanks to a decent cut.
My son treated me for Christmas so that was good but I will be paying myself this month as I have a wedding to go to.
As I have said I get my colour done there for free which would be about two hundred quid and my daughter models for them so never pays for haircuts or colour.
So it's 'worth it!' :rotfl:Here dead we lie because we did not choose

But young men think it is,
And we were young.

On the subject of hair, I have been cutting my own for the past year or so in order to save money. I have got curly hair and the technique as demonstrated on YouTube gives good, really well defined curls. Better in fact than I have ever obtained from a hairdresser, but OVERALL, I'm not convinced that spending the money wouldn't give me a better barnet. Infact one of my students asked me the other week, how easy it was to cut your own hair; I hadn't realised that they had noticed!
The reason for checking in here though in the middle of the afternoon was to say......(drum roll please)......
I got the promotion!!!!!! Can do smileys now I'm on a proper computer.:j:j:j
:beer::beer:
Right, back to work. Will look at the budget once I know what the extra work is worth. (may be a haircut)
Best wishes

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm sure u r really pleased and you should go out to treat yoursef!
On the subject of hair cuts- I got a (nice) long blond hair and I color my own har (for the last 15 years) and go to the local college to get my hair cut once every 3 months (£10). I really like their haircut because the student takes up to 2 hours (I just read my book), not rushing it and the teacher always cheks it - unlike at 'normal' hairdresseres where they take 5 min and doesn't look like anything was done! As an ultimate treat I once got a pedicure in the same college beauty saloon, lasting an hour for the grand sum of £5! I would strongly advice people to give their local college a try- you could be supprised at what can you afford?!? Also, the salon is open at the evenings- makes it perfect to go to after work.
PS- sorry if I'm over familiar here, but I have been reading your thread for a while and feel like got to know you all."NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS FREE FOOD"

I think it's time for a happy dance(and btw the way for these smileys PG you need https://www.pic4ever.com)
Love the irony how you said you may get a hair cut :rotfl:
Just been making cards for the last 90 mins and am now whacked. Will I ever be able to work if such simple stuff as this wears me out? I can only last 2 hours at best making cards...at a time....even with 10 mins printing out 20 or so (or was it 5?)

I love to read the posts on here, in fact I'm quite devoted
It's such a joy that Puddlegum has got herself promoted!
With extra dosh to come your way, well what are you to do?
Who knows, perhaps a haircut, and perhaps a blow dry too!:)

So pleased to hear your news, it's great that things are going your way. I used to cut my own hair, only going to a hairdresser about once a year, but realised this year that things had to change.
My arthritis in my right shoulder is worse, so when I lifted a chunk of hair, and couldn't quite manage the scissors, and cut a large chunk wonky, I realised it was time to go to the hairdressers regualrly now!
