No Buying Toiletries in April Challenge

Oh Rosemary, I am truely gutted for you. The same thing happened to me - hit and run - but some of the neighbours saw what happened and ran out to the road - they tell me he died quickly
. I've lost 2 cats to the roads
It's good that your other cat was able to say goodbye as then they understand their partner has died. My girl cat waited at the back gate for 2 weeks for my boy to come home.
After a few weeks I decided I was ready to get another companion for her. One of the neighbours who had cared for my cat at the accident scene told me about someone she knew who had abandoned her cat so I ended up with her...and her kitten.. I try to think that something positive therefore came out of it.
Hrumph, seems wrong to talk about toiletries now I am feeling sad with the bad memories but <sigh> must stay OT at least in part and I do have like a million tadpoles in my pond to tend for now (I read that they like cooked lettuce and they DO !! BF thinks I've lost the plot now!)
MCCulloch - don't much fancy your toiletries frugal challenge - LOL!! I do think it's a nice idea to have a budget each month though, rather than just total deprivation....someone suggested £10 or £15 which sounds good to me- enough to cover the essential and the £30 treat fund, YES (just add another nought!) Just enough to stop binge buying from total cold turkey!hollylangman37 wrote: »Well I didn't use my BS voucher in the end as I couldn't get the flaming thing to print, I shall use it on Saturday before work and hope that they put the sale items to BOGOF, like they did in January:rotfl:
Oooh I've been secretly wondering this and whether I can stay strong if they do....they must reeeealllly want rid of those body butters by now!
Ruby and Millie def on the way out - it's half price but cos I've been good and not been B**Ts for ages until today, the stand was pretty much cleared out <phew> Hopefully they are making way for the new Champneys ranges!!Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
Afternoon, Hope everyone is enjoying this sunshine!
Sorry about you cat rosemary
I will get around to updating the roll call - sorry been a bit distracted with my dissertation and things (desperately trying to get it in for tomorrow rather than leaving it until monday when everyone else will be doing it last minute)
Am currently waiting for a phone interview....They phoned me when I was out eating my lunch and I couldn't really talk at the time so I asked them to phone back at 2.30, but still nothing yet - hope they havent decided because I couldnt talk at the time they're not interested anymoreWill give it until 3ish and maybe give them a call to see whats going on - maybe I was meant to phone them? No idea.....
Still no bought toilitries just my free hair dye from yesterday...I know its only 7 days in so far but no spend yet
EDIT: Finally got through and they apologised for not calling back the woman said she'd find out and call me back in a bit...going to be one of those waiting games for now..nothing is ever simple is it!MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

Still reading my way through the thread but Rosemary just got to your post and wanted to say that I am so sorry to hear your news. Remember that there is the possibility that the person who did it didn't actually know they had hit her - it only takes the lightest of blows to injure a cat to that extent so it may just not have been callousness. We lost one of ours in similar circumstances a few years ago so I know just how you are feeling - and your other cat too, so sad for her as well.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I'm back to the Avon perfume. It's quite nice and summery. I shall enjoy wearing this
Which one is it????
I'm doing some research as I'm on the lookout for something lighter and more suitable for warmer weather and whilst I'd be spending money, I'll be saving time & money on trying stuff out. :cool:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -

I just had to pop in with a huge (((((((HUG))))))) for Rosemary. I've got 2 cats and we live on quite a busy junction, and I live in terror of that happening to one of mine. Luckily they are quite wary of the road. Where I used to live was a very busy road with lorries thundering by several times an hour and there were many cats lost there, including my beautiful grey boy, over the 33 years I lived there.
I know how you feel, its a terrible feeling but how nice that you felt you could come here for support.0 -
Charlie I think this might be the list of people to add to the roll-call - if it helps for you to just be able to cut and paste....

Charlie - you're welcome!
OK - one UU to report from this morning....
BS Moringa Body Butter - WIBA? Yes! Lovely fragrance, effective and pleasant to use. Only downside would be the price but this was bought with butters on a BOGOF and using a £5 Telegraph voucher ages ago. I'd happily buy on the same basis again though. I have already replaced it with another of the same bought as part of the deal using the Groupon Voucher recently.
And your research on the "ultimate cheapest" is really interesting. I was reading through people's guesses and thinking that it was certainly going to be under £10, I was working on the basis of using soap as that's what we use in the bathroom. I guess you could reduce the cost still further by using soap in place of shower gel, although with the price of the shower gel being so low it probably wouldn't be worth it. I guess in spite of thinking along those lines I was still a little surprised at how low it actually was though - goes to show that if things got really tough there is a lot of cutting down still to do though.
All the discussion about how cheap could we make it has started me thinking. I noticed looking at my list of "stuff I want to try" in my stash list on page one, that a lot of those are low-budget items, so I reckon that from now, as and when I need to buy something in the "basic necessities" line as a straight replacement, I will do my level best to get something suitable in the pound shop, or at least for a price of as close to £1 as I can make it. I'm not going to include skin care and makeup in this as I'm past the stage of risking upsetting my skin for an experiment! Looking forward to trying this - bring it on!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
