The last pet I had was a parrot, years and years ago, and I still miss it sometimesMy car failed its MOT today. Does anyone know of any toiletries that can be used for welding? I need a pick me up... DRAG ME AWAY FROM THE BODY SHOP, PLEASE!
Working in a garage, and owning lots of toiletries/makeup, I think I can safely say they're not much use to welding I'm afraid. Did it fail on the sills? No buying unnecessary toiletries/makeup in May: Unnecessary spend £17.60

Sorry to hear about your cat, Rosemary :grouphug:
And I hope your car doesn't cost too much to sort out, Mingle:j0 -
Oh Rosemary, that's so sad. They really are part of the family are they not? I hope her sister doesn't pine for her.
I'm sporting a nice spot on my cheek which I think is partly due to Aunt Flo and partly to the 3 face masks used this week. I will be using the black head removal one later as it seems to be a collection behind a blackhead IYSWIM?
Further to discussions about minimum spending on toiletries, I couldn't get on with baby lotion as ooisturiser. It goes on my skin like rolled up pva glue. Yukky!
I think that you could actually do without soap and shampoo/ conditioner. Apparently after a while your hair and skin cleans itself. The act of getting in the shower/bath daily would be enough to clean the skin of residue. It's quite extreme though isn't it? I do believe that you would need moisturiser of some sort though to keep the skin healthy. Once the skin becomes dry, it starts to crack and break down. That's when you start getting issues with infection and such like.
I did forget to include razors in the budget.
I'm back to the Avon perfume. It's quite nice and summery. I shall enjoy wearing this
Off I go to put on the maskI start my new night shifts tonight. 12.5 hours with 1/2 hour break- wish me luck! I've got 4 on. If they work ut then I'll be doing a block of 5 every 2 weeks. That's fab and I can't wait to give it a try. I just need to remember to take some money in with me for parking as we are now being charged for parking

Sorry to hear about your cat Rosemary
No UUs or INs for me yet, but I may have one to declare later today or tomorrow - I've noticed that since I moved to London I've started getting little spots on my forehead, which I'm blaming on the hard water, so am thinking of investing in a spot treatment to work on them for now rather than switching my whole skincare routine and spending more money unneccessarily! But realistically, what do you guys tend to spend per month/year on toiletries? And then the more sensible question - if you were trying to be sensible and only really buy what you need, with perhaps a very infrequent treat, what do you think is a reasonable amount to set?
I think if I added up what I spend a year I'll die of shock... so something has to change!
Also - what strategies do you find successful in resisting temptation? I think I need any help that's going!!!
I probably spend about £5 a month on stuff to replenish things that I need, maybe up to £10 if there's a good deal on stuff I know I'll use like cotton wool or straightener spray, and to factor in treats I'd say £15-20 a month would be reasonable for me as a total. I know that's quite a lot but this is really my only 'thing' so I feel justified!
In terms of strategies, as pathetic as it sounds it just feels like recently something's clicked in my brain about toiletries - I can quite happily go into Boots or Superdrug or Lush or the Body Shop, get what I need and then walk out again. I think it's the knowledge that I've got loads of lovely stuff waiting to be used up at home and that anything I want will still be there in a couple of months when/if I need it. I'm still struggling on the limited edition stuff - there is a gorgeous rose limited edition version of Chloe which has just come out and which I am really tempted by (I'm a sucker for rose perfume) but I'm resisting so far!"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
So sad to hear about the cat
Began using a stash of moisturiser sachets. Dunno why I collected so many. found some shower gels too - I have lots of 'shower smoothie' sachets I picked up from somewhere & didn't use. Kinda useful for holidays but I don't go on many! Plus I have mini bottles as well which are less of a pita than trying to peel off an awkward tiny flap of plastic with wet slippery fingers.
Used some of the holiday skin tanning moisturiser the other day. Forgot quite how distinctive the smell is. Doubt I'll finish that any time soon even though I wouldn't mind being a bit less pale atm.
Used up a deodorent which is probs the worst I've had. Soft & gentle in honey and almond flavour. Lovely smelling but did absolutely nothing to prevent sweat or smells. I double checked more than once that it was actually an antiperspirant deodorant & not just a body spray.0 -

Couple of in's, just found two more S&G hot cloth cleansers, forgot that I bought 3 around christmas time:o.
uu - sort of, Dove grapefruit and lemongrass shower gel, i have mixed this in with the kids infacare baby bath because they have been complaining that they aren't babies anymore so now it smells fruity. WIBA? It's nice and wouldn't mind using again but it's no better or worse than a million others in that price range. The devil makes works for idle hands0
