Halight - I am not that close to you. Live in home of the Land Rover ;) H bought his bike from Speedway in Blackheath (I said Halesowen for those that have a vague recollection of West Mids). It's bloomin' miles from where we live, there is a place my dad knows in Erdington which OK isn't that close but since H worked in town he could have dropped off the bike in his lunch hour.

Ulypool - Sounds like shingles to me. Stay away from any pregnant persons ;) Hope you feel better soon.

JulieG - thanks for the hugs, you're a sweetie. It's probably them female hormones and tiredness turning me into a witch today LOL

Yes, i rember know from the talking about the birmingham meet the area were you lived.,

Why did your OH buy his bike from blackheath? I do know speedway bikes. I sold a bike to them back in 2000. I did a bit of bike buying and selling around that time. My first real girlfriend lived in blackheath at the time.

Its best if he deals with a shop that is close to him as if he aint happy with the work they have done its easy to take it back. pluss if they need to pick it up for him its loads cheeper the closer you are.
Best thing he could do is have a look around at at any local bike places to get a feel for them and when he likes the feel of a place book his bike in and see how he gets on.

Best of luck to him, When bikes start going wrong, they seem to go on going wrong for ages, and the costs seem to maount. well this is what has always happen to me anyway. iv cut my losses a fewe times and got rid of the dam things as i was cheeper to go and buy another one.

I miss my bikes:( still never mind im glad that i dont have to fill them with fuld now! 59p a ltr the last time i filled one up!!
    Them were the days:D
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j

Bitsy - good luck with the bike, I remember coming home to find an engine dismantled and spread all over the kitchen table, work surfaces and floor, needless to say I wasn't best pleased! Have you thought about laminate flooring - I've just bought some ready to lay, and it's surprisingly cheap from Homebase, esp if you manage to coincide with a 20% off weekend. My kids have pretty much destroyed my carpets, not too awful as I never really liked them we just inherited them when we bought the house! As far as removing shoes, have you tried enlisting the kids help in telling dh, they can be surprisingly successful - becomes hard for him to tell them about stuff if he can't remember something so basic!

NPM - always good to be prepared about schools, even children without any difficulties don't always fit in at certain schools, my younger two went to a different first school than my elder two! My friend has an autistic son, who began to really struggle as he got older, he lasted to the end of junior school in mainstream education, mainly thanks to a fantastic head teacher and it being a fairly small school where all the children had known him for years, but then she had to fight to get him into a specialist local school. Thankfully a very supportive Ed Psyc and the head of the specialist school and his junior school all helped complete the forms and support her, and he has really blossomed in his new school. The work is manageable due to the small classes and attention, there is far more help for him from people who are properly trained, and he is learning to cope by himself a lot more. The school have also been really helpful with finding ways to manage his behaviour at home, which has made a huge difference to my friend.

Morning Chums and Happy birthday to Floss.
school run done and dusted and odd bits to sort out before I trot off on Saturday. Have got my prescription filled and only have to return my library books which I can do tomorrow.Topped up my mobile phone and have got two boxes already sitting on the dining room table packed with tins ect to take with me on my hols. Both my friend and I are sensible holidaymakers and take essentials, pasta rice cereals coffee and tea ect with us and buy fresh when we need it once there.Just put a little bit of washing on the line the sun is trying to come out but its good and blowy so hopefully it will all be dry enough to iron by this afternoon. Then its just fill the tank with petrol and off I go around 8 on Saturday. Its around 250 miles including picking my pal up so I can't see us getting there much before mid-afternoon as we like to stop for 11's and lunch and to stretch our legs.Hopefully the sun will shine next week and we can do some exploring of the countryside.
Right time for coffee, have a good day everyone
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Hi everyone,

I hope I've not been forgotten. I've been so busy lately I've not even had chance to read the thread, never mind post.

However, that is all about to change, today is my very last day of work so I am looking forward to lots of Osiness happening. I'm not retiring as such (I'm 53) but we took the decision because Mum and dad are both ailing and in fact we heard a few weeks ago that dad has cancer of the oesophagus, so I will be spending a lot more time in Lancashire with them. There is no chance of them operating, he so nearly didn't survive his last op 2 years ago for colon cancer so they have told him he wouldn't come through another. In fact he's opted for no treatment at present because he doesn't feel ill and is having no difficulty eating. He will be monitored and treated if need be but obviously it's the beginning of the end.

Sorry to be a bit doom and gloom but tbh it doesn't really feel like that at the moment, he is well and philosophical and we're just waiting to see what happens.

Changing the subject I have plans to join the flylady thread now that I have said goodbye to the cleaner. I'm really looking forward to it.

Hugs and congratulations to all those people who need or want them.

I'm sure you are really clued up but some secondary schools have enhanced specialist provisions for Autistic children. They are still part of mainstream but their education is managed if a more structured way. The places are pretty limited, in Plymouth there are only 24 across the whole city and it can take a couple of attempts to get a place as there are panel meetings twice a year when it's decided who the places are allocated to. It's not perfect but is better than a mainstream secondary school with little or no understanding.

I'm sure you already know all this but a good route to this is your local Comunication Interaction Team and if you are not successful they work closely with the school your child eventually attends to ensure that they have a better understanding/ way of managing situations that may arise.

NPM - I am feeling slightly less stressed at the mo. Sun has come out for a bit so that's nice. I think you're making the right decision for Noah, if school can't deal with his needs now it's only going to get worse in the next 3 years. I think he'd thrive somewhere more tailored to his needs.

Halight - he bought his bike from Speedway because he found this one on their website and fell in love with it. Bloomin' thing is turning into more trouble than it's worth........
Sadly not lots of bike places here, nearest one is Coleshill so if it breaks down it's a PITA to get it anywhere.

mummysaver - thankfully my H is not mechanically minded so he won't be taking anything to pieces. That's my dad's job LOL

Right time for another cuppa and go out in the sun for a bit.

    Morning,& Happy Birthday Floss:bdaycake:Have a great day.
Bitsy- Hope you feel brighter soo.Hugs.

I am waiting for a parcel to be delivered.I ordered a new watch last Thursday online,it was meant to be next day delivery :( I rang them earlier in the week and they said it was out of stock when I ordered( it didnt say it was though)
Anyway I got an email and text teatime yesterday to say it was on its way.I tracked the no. and its out for delivery.I've not been out all week apart from a quick visit to Mr S,so I've got cabin fever :rotfl:DS2 is the same, but he cant do much anyway with his painful back- he's bored stiff.I think he's been off work about 6 weeks now,I lost count. He feels better sat in the car than anywhere though,so could be persuaded to give me a lift somewhere.

The nice material I was going to make a bag from is just a bit short ,so will have to think again.
Miecherox well done on the alterations. If you can pick up a machine from somewhere like freecycle that would be great.I've always had a machine, but didnt sew for about 20 years,it just sat in the loft apart from very quick jobs, but I got back into sewing a couple of years ago,and I make all sorts now and love it.I upgraded my machine last year, but still keep my old one -its much more solid for things like curtains or denim.

Meat pie for tea, then we have to brave the M60 to go and visit DH cousin, hopefully DH will finish a bit earlier.
