Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 31st March. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all - hope I haven't clashed with anyone who's just started the thread - & just noticed that I mistyped the date in the title - sorry!

The rain is here after a few weeks of dry weather, so no pegging out.
Need to do a food stocktake today, few bits of shopping, return library books and get more. Really tired this last week, not sleeping well and been up since 0530!
Can hear the babies & DH, so off for breakfast; have a good morning all, see you soon.

Morning Everyone!
And there was me thinking we had the start of the summer, was hoping to start the garden, everything I grow will be in pots because we're just waiting to move house so have hung on a bit this year. Kids have pyjama day at school today where they get to watch a film in their pyjamas and have popcorn and hot chocolate - wish I could join them!
Got some agency application forms to fill out to try and get some work before official mat leave starts. Still waiting to hear back from union rep and getting really nervous for some reason. ( I keep thinking i'll run into the boss in the street and he'll start on me again:o)
Watched that scrimping programme last night and it spurred me into action with the clothes alterations i've planned ( I am rubbish at sewing but am determined to learn) Started dsd's trousers to skirt and got them unpicked and pinned down the front, so far it looks pretty good. Need to borrow a sewing machine from somewhere as can't afford to buy one- would normally have borrowed mothers but we moved 200 miles away so that's kind of difficult now! May look on freecycle and ask around.
Hope everyone has a good day

Good Morning Cheapkate & all to follow.
Wet and miserable here in Essex
am mainly in my office again today so doesn't matter too much. Back is a little better today, still walking like an old lady
Had a good day yesterday and got a lot done, also got an offer of a job which sounds very interesting :T Worked so hard in my office that I missed the Scrimpers programme last night, will have a look on the thread and see what everyone else thought of it.
Have DD's drama GSCE production tonight, she is very nervous about it. Not sure what is for dinner yet.
Well, thats if for me today - have a good one.x0 -

Good luck to your dd :j, it will be my dd's production soon too, hope all goes well.
Wet and miserable here, I woke a couple of times in the night cold, hope winter is not coming back.
Off to work today, busy time, so the days fly past, dinner tonight is Kiev, chips and beans, and I have sainsbugs delivering.
OH is still in the spare room, we are still coughing badly, but
is it wrong to say I am loving it :rotfl:I get the best nights sleep ever, and the whole bed to myself
Did not think much of the scrimping programme last night it was mainly for people overspending and ways of cutting down, which we already do on here, will keep watching though, might pick up a few tips.
OK better get on, have good days all xx
:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to Floss, have a great day xx0 -
Missed the scrimpers programme last night - will try and catch up later. DS1 on school trip today so he is hyper excited. DS2 upset that he can't go - his one is next week! Wet here, OH got migraine, dog sulking cos of the weather - happy days !!!! Dinner will be leftovers from the fridge tonight.,Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all
Wet, windy and overcast here this morning, but forecast says it will brighten up later .... we'll see.
DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night was the LO roast beef reheated in a pot of gravy, LO yorkshires, mash, brussels, carrots, broccolli, peas and green beans - was rather nice. Not sure about tonight need to decide as DH has said he doesn't want fry up, may do menfolk chicken kievs, and myself fish as have those all in the freezer.
DH and I were going to the theatre tomorrow night but the show has been cancelled, so am still taking boys to MIL for overnight stay and we're going to have a nice dinner, bottle of wine and who knows what else!!
Have therapy this morning then a hairdressers appointment and then all the normal housework jobs etc, want to keep on top of it all though as so much easier when it's reasonably tidy. Need to do some cooking/baking at some point as tins are nearly empty again. Will do menu plan and shopping list too - ready for tomorrow.
Will go to the scales again tomorrow but think I've stayed the same or put weight on - not sure why, have to wait and see.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning everyone
Hope you don;t mind me joining in I haven't written anything for months! But have been reading most days
Haven't had the best of times but nevermind just getting on with things.
OS wise have to put the stew and veg in the slow cooker, then walk DS to school. The bathrooms to clean then off to my volutary work to see a family in need....lol
Hope you all have a fab day, will be back later to catch up with everyone

Good Morning
Wet and miserable here too, really looking forward to camping (not) and think we may just be a tad insane to be going. The joys of packing away a wet dirty trailer tent!
Thank you all for your support yesterday re DH's toxic daughter.. I have talked to him about it, we argued a lot at the beginning, now she is like the elephant in the room that we only really bring up when we have to, and tend to have the same conversation every 6-8 weeks, which usually coincides with a peak in their "activity". In my view she is only interested in him, and what she wants is to just spend time with him alone... which to me is just weird. She doesn't text her adopted dad 30 times a day or go out on "dates" with him, so why does she have the need to do this with my dh. Shes a 29 year old married woman! Anyway, won't rant about her today, breath in and out calmly.
Washing is all on the airer, as too wet outside. This flying lark is brilliant, am doing about an hour a day, so Friday nights are reclaimed as mine. I will bite the bullet and sign up to the thread next week, as now I know i can do it!
I quite enjoyed the scrimping programme. But they need more tips and less people earning more the £100K! how can anyone overspend that by £33K in a year? it took DH 5 years to acheive that level of debt!
Was very chuffed to open my first ever ISA yesterday, I had some inheritance money from my gramps, so have official rainy day savings now! His debts are his responsibility to pay, and while i will support him and help him manage his debt, I am not going to pay them off for him.
Dinner tonight is hm chilli and potato wedges, and the leftover chilli will be coming camping with us for Fridays tea, but dished up in wraps with melted cheese.
have a great day everyone x0 -
Knew there was something I missed on tv last night - hope I can get it on catch-up.
Breakfast was TTD croissants that I found on the reduced shelf, 4 for 69 pence - same price as the basics ones!
Just cleared out some VERY old stuff from the freezer and threw away, bread with freezer burn and a sell by date 2 years ago and similar things! Hate wasting food, but we should have eaten it before. 1 April is my "new start" date - have to be much stricter before the new, rubbish wage kicks in and as food is going through the roof.
It's now blowing a gale here on top of the rain, so can't even to more gardening today. Babies had to be woken up at 7, reckon they're tired, so an early night might be in order. DH working over today, so we can please ourselves for tea, something OS/leftover methinks.
