I hope you get it sorted but someone mentioned the idea of getting an aviary for your father, I think that would be a great idea.... he could fill it with all sorts of lovely feathered friends.... :)

An aviary with a few birds might get your dad's spirits up again.

Is it definitely HER fence as opposed to THEIR fence??

My previous neighbour put nails and catgut fishing wire on our boundary fence to stop my cat walking along it. She wasnt amused when I informed her it is OUR boundary and I dont agree with it, so I took it down. (my little cat could ditz along it anyway but she did it to annoy me).

So if its their fence and they dont want the decoys on it perhaps they would be within their rights to take it down. Im in Scotland and we do have some differing laws of trespass n stuff, so worth checking out before doing anything inflammatory!!

Thanks for that - some of the posters on here are as sad as my parents' neighbour!

well thanks for that ! but actually rather than 'picking holes' i was confused as to why your family is NOW being told to stay away from her and what had prompted the police visit, you were giving confliction information because she cant feel intimidated if no-one has been near her.

In future perhaps start the thread, "im after advice but please only supply it of you are going to agree with me"

I asked for advice not criticism.

If the neighbours go away for a weekend you could try painting the ornaments with dilute live yoghurt (maybe put it in a plant sprayer and look like you 'missed') and in no time the ornaments will be covered in green lichen/algae/mossy stuff (don't know exactly what it is!) which will blend in even better with your screening.

I love the idea of an aviary and could your dad perhaps hang bird feeders in the front garden? I can see that, if your neighbour has a fear of birds already, it would only take one instance of one of her children putting their hands in bird poo when using their garden toys for her to think it a health hazard but she may not mind so much in the front garden if they don't play there?
