OP - how do you feel about rats? Or mice? Defrosted and launched?0

Or a bee hive as a present to your parents to cheer them up? Or an unexploded WW2 bomb?0

The idea is amusing. But is the objective really to poke the lady in the eye with all the cats at the expense of encouraging predators on the birds?Jojo_the_Tightfisted wrote: »... They'd be next door, rolling around in ecstasy - all the little birdies could safely tweet in the next garden.
(and having seen a cat try to catch a bumble bee whilst under the influence - there's no danger to anyone with wings!)
I'd probably stick some out the front garden as well.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Mind you, I am a crack shot with a fishing catapult. I specialise in targeting red maggots to within 2 inches' accuracy at 10 yards. Although I could also get groundbait [STRIKE]pigeonfood[/STRIKE] onto a next door neighbour's roof if asked
er - buddleas dont really attract wasps! moths are not a problem and I LOVE bats - we have them attracted to the moths which flit about the streetlight near us - and they are beautiful creatures! fascinating to watch! Me and OH sit on the decking and just watch their graceful swoops - with a nice glass of wine and a few nibbles! bliss!!! we occasionally get an owl flying down the street (looking for all the world as if she is trying to find a certain house number!)! and a fox has taken to trotting down the back lane...........I certainly enjoy seeing all this and would be most upset if someone deliberately set out to prevent this!0 -

Really? Why do they spend so much time around the ones in my mum's garden then? (serious question, only thing I can think of is that they are after the moths themselves). I like to count the number of different bees, honeybees, hoverflies, etc.
I love all of those too - but I bet the next door neighbour doesn't.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

OP, rather than jumping to conclusions about why she has done it, why dont you just knock on her door and speak to her ? I agree with a previous poster, she may be having real issues with the birds fouling in her garden - she has her children to be concerned about and whilst its enjoyable for your parents why should she have to put up with it ?
Im not a bird lover either, I would also place the bird scarer things on the fence to stop the birds sitting on it - if thats where they sit and it was mine - but it wouldnt be out of spite anymore than the parents encouraging the birds into the garden is. Everyone has the right to enjoy their homes how they wish, within reason !
as for the children being encouraged to stay away, I have to do that with my 2 children sometimes because they get very attached to people and dont yet understand the concept of personal space, slightest encouragement and they would be over for hours. Perhaps the neighbour doesnt want the children to be a bother ??

Perhaps you could accidentally break the ornaments? I'm sure it would be easy enough to swing a rake round a bit too quickly in the wrong direction while you're sweeping up the last of the winter leaves?0

Do it soon while there are still some left.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Sometimes people feeding birds is a nuisance to neighbours as the birds wait around and poo everywhere. So maybe she's got lots of poo in her garden.0
