Does anyone know if it's any good

The last shredder I bought was from PC World and it lasted about 2 minutes

I just bought the Woolworths cross cut shredder today for £14.99 (It's marked as half price down from £29.99)

    Details:
5 sheet shredding at a time
    shreds credit cards
    cuts into 4mm x 38mm pieces, security level 3
    228mm (9") wide slot
14 litre bin, nice slimline design with a window to see when full

I haven't used it much yet but it looks robust and the blades look like they could chew up a cd case (won't be testing that :) )

Halfords had them in a 30% off sale last week for £14.99. I had a £10 off voucher from a promotion the week before so I got mine for £4.99. Does that count? :)

    It's a great x-cut shredder too!

So I went to ASDA and found a 6 sheet cross cut one for £18.40, but when I got to the checkout they olnly charged me £9.20.

Just tried it and it's pretty much industrial strength and heavy too. :)

Just wanted to agree with this. The box says £18.40, the shelf £13.86 and the price at the till £9.20*. I suppose I could have got a voucher for incorrect pricing - but i didnt have the cheek! With a one year guarantee, you cant really go wrong. It also appears to be good quality (better than the £30 one I had from staples, which did break I might add). Its not a known brand, but it says on the box 'made for asda'. And I can confirm that it seems heavy duty

I will use it one sheet at a time, a few sheets in a session - so I have high hopes - I will let you know how it runs!

*I could be a few pence out here!

Thought I would add my tale of woe to this board. If anyone has a good suggestion please reply!! I thought it was about time we got ourselves a cross-cut shredder and after reading these boards, decided to have a look at what was on offer. 1st call on Tuesday was PC World and on the shelf, the only one left, was a cross cut shredder for £14.99. I took it out and it looked the biz. heavy machinery and a nice fitting box underneath (made in China - but what isn't these days). Hugging our trophy we went home, plugged in and great! it chewed up everything on offer. However after 2 days, it wouldn't start on even 1 sheet, let alone 5. Discovered it was the starting switch mechanism, which was very poorly engineered. Took it back to-day and the nice man in PC World said "Yes, my Dad bought one of those and had to take it back, we have had loads of them returned!" Got my credit and set off for Staples (all too expensive), drove 5 miles to ASDA (none in stock), and at the PC World man's suggestion,("where they have really good ones at the right price") drove another 7 miles to Slough, to a branch of Maplins. Only one shredder in stock, which was made in China and looked suspiciously like the PC World one, and priced at £29.99! So I came home having used about £5 worth of petrol and NO SHREDDER!!  Help!
