It's when she's 15 and still stripping in Tesco you have to worry :D

My sis stripped to her undies at 14 in Peacocks.. my mother picked up an item of clothing and said to her 'you'll have to try this on'.. when he turned around my sis was in her undies! She is 27 and no better now!
How can any of you think it is ok for a female child to be out in the street half naked, have you all gone mad?????

So you'd think it was ok if it was a boy??????? *shrug*

Everybody has a body... they aren't anything special.. those freaky weird types get kicks out of looking at the next catalogue yet people still allow their children to pose in underwear/swimwear/very little wear for payment.. that is tantamount to prostitution for those with that kind of sick mind..

My son was out with no shirt on today.. what is the difference between him being out in a pairs of shorts (no undies so still only 1 item of clothing) and a small child doing the same? .. Other than my son looks like a sunbleached bone!

Its mad isnt it. At that age its fine for little boys to strip off in the sun but a girl cannot and the mother is called neglectful! She is a 3 year old girl for goodness sake just a toddler.

The girl was probably playing in her own street within eyes view of her parents. We harp on about how children were always out playing but when a parent actually allows their child out they are accussed of child abuse.

There are plenty of photographs online of children under the age of 5 out playing in the streets without adult supervision. Being over protective and not letting your children out of the garden to play is what I would call neglect!

Who took these photographs then, 4 year olds?:rotfl: if an adult was there taking photos then they weren't without supervision, were they?

Yes, just let them all crawl out on the main road at 12 months old, must give them their freedom and not be overprotective? (roll eyes)

Just as some children will be ready to be left at home alone at a younger age than others, the age at which children are mature enough to play unsupervised will vary a lot and obviously it depends what the traffic is like and who they are with. Some under 5s will be sensible enough to play out in a quiet street, others won't.

That's a ridiculous statement. A 12 month old has a very different understanding of the world and capacity of thinking than a 3, 4, 5, 6 year old - and you know it! :D

    Absolutely agree with this.

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

Yes, of course it's ridiculous, it's also ridiculous to say that all parents of under 5s who don't let them play out unsupervised are both overprotective and neglectful, as arran claimed.;)

I was trying to be as silly as the OP who stated that a parent who let her toddler out to play in the street was being neglectful.

The full story is probably that the little girl was out with her older siblings in the street where her house is ie within view of her parent, The clothing issue isnt a big deal, as last week the weather was very summery, and children do strip off! If a little boy of 3 is allowed to walk about topless then why not a girl of the same age? They are far too young to have such gender differences imposed on them.

Im guessing we do not know the full story though, but all I can say is the OP should mind their own business or if they really are concerned go speak to the childs parents!

Not sure what's to be gained by speaking to the parents, rightly or wrongly, they must think it's fine.

It has nothing to do with gender differences, I just think it's too cold for any child, boy or girl to be outside in March in just pants. Different if it was a summer's day, in which case they should have sun cream on.

Unless I've missed it, I don't think the OP actually stated that the parents were neglectful. She was just asking for opinions.

It has nothing to do with the weather, it's about teaching the child self respect and safety.
There are dirty minded people out there who prey on little children, they need to be taught from a young age to cover up.
It's just about acceptable in their own back gardens, but in the stret NO WAY, it's a disgrace.

Yep and its the 'dirty minded' people who are a disgrace, not the kids. How dare we take away their innocence by telling them the can't take their clothes off incase some hedge lurking peado can't help themselves - what message does that give them - that its their fault??? For goodness sake!
People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I am alarmed at the people who can see any sexual connotation to a 4yo girl wearing no top.

At that age children are asexual, it matters not whether it's a boy or girl, from the hips up they are all the same and there is nothing wrong with the bare flesh of a young child. It's the pinnacle of innocence, but you see that as wrong?

Far more of a worry than a girl wearing just knickers/trousers is seeing them in little bra shaped bikinis implying that they do have something that needs covering up, that is a far more sexual image than them wearing no top at all.

It was another posted on page 1 who though the parents were negelctful and should be reported to SS, not OP, who OP then agreed with.
