drivers penalised in tyres

Found out from my mum how bad the puncture was. The screw was almost the length of the tyre wall. It was almost touching the wheel trim. It was as if someone had grabbed a 6inch screw and screwed it into the tyre.0

The budget I use are excellent, great handling, stopping, wear and low noise. In fact, I notice no difference to the Goodyear that were on them prior.
No but I bet an expert could point out better stopping, etc....
I personally only fit premium tyres.
My Lotus has special requirements anyway so Yokohamas costing £180+ each for that (and lasting <6000 miles).0 -

I agree, I went through a phase of buying part worns but it probably works out more expensive than buying new.
I never buy them now.0 -

I probably agree. Though I'd buy premium tyres for a Lotus too, I drive a Mondeo!
Budgets are great for motorway miles.0 -

I've used Tyre Shopper and MacSams Tyres. I saved so much last year because local garages were quoting me £125 per tyre, whereas MacSams got me 2 of the same tyre (Michelin, can't remember the size) fully fitted for £143. I keep the other one that was replaced in the garage incase I need another replacement in the future.0 -
I would pay around £200 a set, though I get traders prices in a handful of places. Usually fit them myself, though as well.
Blackcircles and camskills are pretty good- usually fairly fast delivery from both.
I'd never use partworns, as there's no surety in them, though I've had budget tyres on once- think they're still attached to my old alloys. Very hard-wearing- they've seen more miles than I'd expect- but rubbish with it. Car would skit around corners on a dry road, and in wet conditions- definitely never boring.0 -
I dread to think how much a full set for my motor would be.. I just googled but its saying around a grand but that cant be right can it?"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

I just paid £152-80 for a pair of Eco Contacts to go on my Fusion .............
Not bad. My wife works in Germany now, so we do a lot of driving there, sometimes in winter. We replaced our four "summer" tyres (the tyres sold in the UK are viewed as "Summer" tyres in Germany) with 4 season ones for around €330.
Didn't go for the Winter tyre option as travelling between the UK and Germany would make storing a second set of wheels problematic.0 -
