taradance, can i please ask where you got your stationery bits and pieces from? Ive decided on having yellow as my colour scheme and have decided i am going to focus on one little thing every month, next month is our little girls 2nd birthday and our holiday so i will start in June i think. My first thing on my list is to start buying cards for save the date , invitations, ribbons etc. Ive got a box and a whole spare room to start storing things then i think i will actually start practicing towards the end of the year.0

Hello,
I got my stuff from all over. Ebay is a great starting point, I wanting flat square card for invitations (didnt want a card that folded) so they cost a little more, but ebay has loads of brilliant stuff. I went to hobbycraft to get ribbon - they hold 20% off everything in store every month or so, so keep an eye out for that! I got little sequins for invites again from ebay (as you can tell im ebay mad!) mainly down to me selling stuff on there, so i then used the profits for all wedding bits. with so much time til the wedding, keep an eye out in sales and in cheaper stores, the works, b+ms, the range, home bargains and even £1 land have little bits and pieces now and again so worth keeping an eye out. Hope that helps!0 -
we have finally paid the deposit on the venue - its all booked!!:j:j
Soooo excited i can finally start organising bits and pieces now.
First job they want though is to see how many rooms are going to be taken, they only have 32 so ive provisionally booked all of them as we have a large family. I just need to start asking around to who will be staying the night and let them know.0 -
ooo thats great news.. looks like our wedding is being brought forward a year now, my other half is re inlisting in the army so yeah, bargain was that we had to get married earlier.. picked a venue now so fingers crossed we like when we go see in the summer! yeah i have mega issues with hotels etc.. didnt realise how expensive over night stays had got! lol0

I am also getting married in 2013 (April 5th) I am a teaching assistant and need to get married in the holidays. My OH and I have booked the venue and we have also made our guest list (subject to change!)
We are going to be making a lot ourselves, to save cost. Although both families want to help us out with money, we don't want to rely on their generosity. My sister is going to help me to make the stationary and the cake, my future mother in law is making the wedding favours, and other family members are also helping out.
I am looking for any money saving ideas that anyone has. I have already picked up a lot from people, and on this site.
Thank you0 -
I'm going to be an August 2013 bride if all goes to plan! Found our venue today and fell in love with it immediately and will be going back next weekend to show the place to my mum and sister. It's a gorgeous old castle and has accommodation inside which was a must for us. The cost is not very MSE but we will have to make sure that everything else is!0

rubysmummy wrote: »Hi, i know am i getting a big ahead of myself here but was just wondering if there were any 2013 brides like myself. I havnt done much in my wedding preparations as yet but we have just started looking at venues, requesting recommendatons for photographers etc. I thought i was being a bit too organised starting now but one of the venues already has the date we wanted provisionally booked up and the week before aswell so i suppose im not the only one.
Just wondering if you have booked anything or done any preparations yet.
xx
Hi rubysmummy, I am a June 2013 Bride!! Super excited about it, and actually quite glad I have 2 years to really enjoy the planning and organising (once I am debt free!). All I have done in way of preparation is book the venue and pay the £500 deposit, nothing else organised yet. I did want to start looking at dresses soon, as I am planning on trying to source it online cheaper once I find one I like.Hello:wave:
Nope you're not too far ahead of yourself and you're not the only one - I'm a JUNE 2013 bride
We've started looking to be able to figure out our budget; it helps that we know people who know people who can give us a better price - and I've already found my dress, can pay if off monthly and I don't have to worry about paying off a fortune before the wedding. It works for me
Sam
Hi Sam! What date in June are you, we are 14th. I absolutely love your theory with the dress, I might start something similar once I find the dress I want. My OH thought I was crazy when I said last week I wanted to go and start trying on dresses, but if its going to take a while to find one I like, then source it for the best price I can, I will need to start soon!rablovesroo wrote: »Hello!
I'm hopefully going to be a June 2013 bride. We'e planning to have an exclusive wedding at Brandshatch Place Hotel and putting almost all of the guests up overnight for free (between 80-90 estimated)! I've already started saving £300 a month as of last month (so £600 so far) and have bought the following tidbits, all bargains:
Here is a silly list of things I would love to have at the wedding, but probably won't due to cost (but hey, it's early days yet, plus it's fun to dream...)
Hire Magician and Caricaturist
Hire adult bouncy castle and outdoor giant games for the grounds
Hire ice cream tricycle
Have draping with fairy lights across the breakfast room ceiling
Have a tombola with prizes for guests
Have a self-service tea stand for fruit/mint teas (we might actually do this, all we'd need is a large hot water dispenser, paper cups, stirrers and tea bags, plus a bin!)
Hi to all you 2013 brides out there! It is NEVER too early to start planning for the wedding of your dreams!
Hi Rablovesloo  I love your list of dream things for your wedding, I think I might write a list like that and if I can have them great, if not, well it will still be great!
Thats such a nice gesture paying for all your guests!! Will you get a good rate on the rooms seeing as you are footing the bill? Love this thread, so will pop back and share the excitement with all the other 2013 brides and grooms!0 -
Well im excited - its less than 2 years now YAY!!! Ive found my dress (way over budget) but luckily my parents have said they'll help out with some of the cost so i can have my dream dress. im arranging to go see the preists secretary either this week or next to sort out what i need to do to get married outside of our parish. Ive found my photographer but need to pay the deposit on that, ive changed my colour scheme now so im looking for other bits and pieces and have to find 5!! bridesmaid dresses all in budget.0

If all goes to plan, I will be an August 2013 bride, though not officially even engaged yet. My OH is out of work, but the second he can get a job he is planning on proposing and making this all official. Not stopped us planning though, we have a provisional invite list, I've found a discount wedding dress shop with fantastic bargains, and we have our budget worked out.
Hoping to make is a simple classic wedding, do our own flowers and cake etc.0
