  • Hello! :)

I'm hopefully going to be a June 2013 bride. We'e planning to have an exclusive wedding at Brandshatch Place Hotel and putting almost all of the guests up overnight for free (between 80-90 estimated)! I've already started saving £300 a month as of last month (so £600 so far) and have bought the following tidbits, all bargains:

100 butterfly place cards (the ones that attach to the glass rims)
100 striped pink candy bags, for self made candy buffet
11 wooden easels to display menus on breakfast tables
90 organza bags in mint green and peach - our wedding colours
500 clear scatter crystals (need more)
50 white favour boxes (need another 50)
20 meters of mint green and peach ribbon (10 of each)
3 large vintage jars and 3 small jars for candy buffet
    My wedding bag, shoes, garter
    Wedding planner book
RSVP cards frrom M&S (a grand total of £1.70 for 60!)
Wedding Thank You Cards (£3.38 for 45 from closing Sussex Stationers)
    Wedding bottle bags (for gifts)

We've decided on the following (but yet to buy):
Wedding dress - Ultimo from Debenhams £350
Bridesmaid Dresses (x 2) - Green sleeveless short ones from BHS
Wedding Cake - from Waitrose (3 tier with green flowers on it)
Manderlay Songbird Invites in Green from Confetti - gorgeous
Will get Save the Date magnets from Vistaprint once the date is booked, and try to get them all for free over time! :p
Will get Debenhams Wedding Insurance once it is approx 2 years before wedding
Have also sourced photographer/videographer, disco, etc.
Nothing here booked yet, but hopefully the ball will start rolling soon!

Here is a silly list of things I would love to have at the wedding, but probably won't due to cost (but hey, it's early days yet, plus it's fun to dream...)

    Hire Magician and Caricaturist
Hire adult bouncy castle and outdoor giant games for the grounds
    Hire ice cream tricycle
Have draping with fairy lights across the breakfast room ceiling
Have a tombola with prizes for guests
Have a self-service tea stand for fruit/mint teas (we might actually do this, all we'd need is a large hot water dispenser, paper cups, stirrers and tea bags, plus a bin!)

Hi to all you 2013 brides out there! It is NEVER too early to start planning for the wedding of your dreams! :D

  • Oh my goodness rablovesroo, you have made a good start. You've given me some push to get things going again, i actually started to slow down and people keep telling me im too early to start buying things but i suppose i could make a start to little things. My H2B knows what im like with trying to make up my mind about things so i wont be buying anything that i may end up changing. im still stuck on what colour scheme to have, i wanted lemon originally but its proving hard to find bridesmaid dresses in that colour that are within our budget, i was hoping to just pick up some dresses off the rail in high street shops, bridesmaid type of dresses but nowhere seems to have just plain yellow / lemon. So my next option was a kind of illuminous purple type of colour or sky blue. I think i may go and buy some magazines and see if i can find any inspiration from them. Can i ask where you got your wedding planning book from?
  • I've bough my stamps!! Bought in superdrug with the 5% off offer and before the price went up to 46p a stamp -got them for 39p each. Every saving helps!

hellooo fellow 2013 brides to be lol
Me and OH are planning for June or Sept to avoid the holiday season where everyone is on holiday lol
Ive got a book full of scribbles drawings ideas and prices lists and budgets so far and ive been saving things on ebay watch list, resisting temptation to buy them lol

Budget so far is coming at 2800 for a church wedding and just a night do party, no wedding breakfast. Although i am worried about the gap in between wedding and night do, hopefully wont be more than 2hrs. Most of guests live within 30mins of church and venue anyway

Bridesmaids are buying their own dresses and shoes which will help as i have 5! and a flower girl lol

Parents are gona pay for DJ and cake...

Sister in law is paying for flower girls dress (her daughter)

OH, best man and my dad are wearing plain black suits that they already have but wearing a lovely satin red waistcoat and cravat combo i saw on ebay...

Also, what do you think of the idea of the bridesmaids having a wrist corsage instead of a boquet? Im having red rose round bouqet with crystal in each centre of rose, they could have something to match or would it look daft with them not having anything to hold as such??

@ miss_pixie - We're having June due to the football season - god forbid I get in the way of Utd! :D
I've found my dress, paying it monthly, got a colour scheme, church, and we know entertainment, rings, honeymoon already. All the little things OH is leaving to me :) I went to school with a lady who is now a cake maker (discount), lady who is a wedding dress stockist (discount for me and the bridesmaid), photographer (discount), make up artist (discount for me and the bridesmaid). Mother in law to be is an organiser of charity balls so I'll get a bit of help there in the organising as well...... It's never too early to stat planning!
Plus it gives me time to lose weight :D:D:D

  • Hello!

Small progress, just ordered 50 small cards with a cute poem asking for money for a honeymoon instead of presents to put in the invites. We've lived together for almost a year (three then by 2013) and don't actually need anything! Got them for £7.70 from Ebay.

Decided on Ernest Jones wedding rings for both (£275 and £375) in white gold.

  • Never too early to start organising!!:D

Im a 2013 bride, hoping for April 2013. Were getting married in Ireland (where my H2B is from) so need 2 years to be able to organise everything over there while studying at university here.

I like to think im rather creative and so I will be a full on DIY bride making as much as I can to save some £££

Im making all our wedding stationary (only spent around £20 for everything to make all save the dates, invites and rsvps)

Im also hoping to make the favours, accesories, bouquets, cake (buying plain iced fruit cakes and then decorating with matching ribbon and flowers), table decorations etc so I have a very busy 2 years!! :j
  • Well everyone, i managed to get my venue booked!! YEY it actually feels real now. Although we havent actually paid the deposit, she sending the paperwork out to us and we have to send a cheque back. Just need to decide on my colour scheme now, either light blue or yellow, but i cant decide. Then i can get going with buying little bits and bobs. Luckily our venue does everything for us, my table centres, mini menus, table plan etc all i need to do is get chair covers. The table plan and name cards are just plain so i may decide to do my own.

i too want to be a DIY bride taradancer, im hoping to do my own stationary, favours, bridesmaid bouquets and cake too. Ive just started doing cupcakes as a sideline and im going on to do a cake decorating course so fingers crossed i should be able to do my own.
  • rubysmummy, thats great news on booking venue, sounds like youve got a good deal there if you do all that for you! we're off to look at a few places in summer when we're back visiting family.. so fingers crossed we will be all booked up then!

Choosing the colour scheme is a nightmare, ive changed my mind about 100 times lol but decided to go for a turqouise / teal colour and seem to be happy with the results so far :j

we're just wanting a nice plain cake so im just going to buy some plain iced fruit cakes, and decorate with ribbon and matching flowers from the bouquets, fingers crossed i find it nice and easy!

Ive found buying little bits and pieces here and there means your not shelling out a fortune all in one go, i managed to get all little bits i need such as cards, ribbon etc etc month by month and havent even noticed the costs!

Keep us up dated on your DIY stuff :T
  • hi everyone, ive managed to speak to the priest at the church we wanted to get married at (its outside our parish so we didnt know if we were going to be able to) anyway he was extremely helpful and said if i spoke to my parish preist and got him to agree he would be more than happy to allow us to get married there!! Yey!!

So update on my wedding - venue booked - and thats about it lol.

Ive got a few quotes for photographers and videographers - H2B's wonderful brother and wife have agreed that they will pay for half of our photographer and videographer (no matter what the cost) - i nearly cried i was so overwhelmed, they knew that i wanted it videoed and we couldnt afford like extra bits like that and we were looking at the cheapest of cheap options for a photographer as we needed to keep costs down so this is a great help. When they got married my SIL to be hated her wedding pictures so she understands how important it is to get someone qualified and good at what their doing. everything is falling into place, im asking my bridesmaids this week to be bridesmaids which i hope they will say yes, also i need to pick between yellow or blue for my colour scheme so i will be asking their opinion.

i think im just going to have a plain cake and decorate it myself, seems the easiest option and to be honest im not really fussed about my cake, id rather have little extra bits that people will remember.

Ive got a quote for a london bus which we will be hiring. Just need to contact my parish priest this week.
