well done rablovesroo - ive been trailing the car boots since we booked the date but havent seen anything - i suppose i should be getting there at 7am but by the time we have all got ready its more like 10am which is probably why i dont find anything lol!!
Im going to pick up our letter from our parish church this week and hopefully make an appointment to see the preist from the church near our venue pretty soon - and hopefullly when we do ill be able to take my parents to see the venue as they havent seen it yet (seeing as they are paying for most of it!!)0 -
Looking for advice from all you fabulous organised lot.
Wedding will be in June 2013 (fingers crossed), we can't book the date until January 2013, however I'd like to start the organising as much as possible so that we don't have a big expense in the few months that we will have to organise the wedding.
Invitations will mostly be via email, I might make a small number for those who don't have access to email, but nothing notably to cause a huge expense invitation wise. I also have a large stockpile of creative items and paper etc so that should be fine.
The wedding will be beach themed, so I am looking at pebbles decorated with names for place settings, we can obviously collect these as and when we go to the beach.
I have started our wedding website already, mainly as it has a fantastic organising section and a wedding blog which I want to keep. This will provide all our guests with the information they need. The site I've chosen is www.gettingmarried.co.uk, I know there's loads to choose from but I liked this one, and my sister-in-law used this site too.
Can you help me out with things that I should be looking out for in the sales etc. I know I would like a signing frame, and some kind of beach centre piece (other than a pile of sand, I'm not sure what to use :rotfl:)
What are the items you're all looking out for?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
OK...soooo I may well have broken the record for earliest ever buying of a wedding dress before the event! 23 months early!
I've ordered an Ultimo Couture ivory bridal gown from Debenhams for £175, half price in the sale. Had to order it over the phone, as it's sold out online. I loved it since I saw it several months ago when they first came out. I'm a 12, but have ordered it in a 14, as the reviews say that it comes up a bit small. It's possible it may be cancelled as stock is so limited, but i thought it would be worth a try. I can always return it if it doesn't fit/look right.
I reckon that if I try it on once a month until the wedding, I can keep track of my weight to make sure it's not too snug, or too loose!
Having inspiration overload at the moment, and i seem to be much worse than even the 2012 bride's threads, and mine is a year later! My work involves a lot of organising and I do really enjoy it so I suppose that's where it comes from. I'm not planning on delegating anything to anyone really, just planning it all myself. OH literally has the memory of a goldfish, remembering to turn up will prove taxing for him
New idea for the day: Wedding Survival Kit for each main hotel bathroom. A basket on the counter containing essential supplies such as plasters, foot gel cushions, mints, toothpicks, perfume, pain-killers, deodorant, etc. The kind of things the guests may need in an emergency. I got the idea from a real life bride in the new Wedding Ideas mag, only I'll do the same for both genders.

I too am dead organised, I thrive off it! I've started our wedding website using gettingmarried.co.uk and it's fab as it has a load of orginising sections for me to play with and a blog so that when I come to give the website details to the guests they can read all the preparatiions and fun i've had leading up to the day.
I'm looking for anything beach-y that can be used for decorations, table centrepieces, favors etc. It's so exciting.
I'm not as brave as you in ordering a dress yet, I'm so fickle i'll change my mind and end up with several! But I will have fun trying lots on :rotfl:Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Sorry rabslovesroo, I think I may have beaten you to that record
My wedding is August 2014 (he gets out of the Army then) and I've had my dress a year already.
People told me I was silly but 12 months on, I still know my Maggie Sottero Rhianna Royale is the dress for me plus it was only £500.
I bought a 14 and I'm using this as my incentive to lose the weight to get into it.0 -
OMG, it's here...and it's a perfect fit!!! Perfect height too, I am really shocked! :j
Just to warn anyone who wants an Ultimo dress, it really does come up one whole size smaller. Now I just need a dress bag to put it in, before the moths get to it!
Anyone else love paper pom poms? I've seen some lovely arrangements on ebay, might get some to make a drop-down ceiling centrepiece, in the middle of some fairy lit drapes! drool....Make £2019 in 2019 No 153 - £4517.17/£20190 -
Well ive paid the deposit on my dress - i did about 4 weeks ago but i am having doubts about it now
i think ive made a big mistake - ive gone for the whole princess massive dress but im only 5"1 and the more i look at it online the more i dislike it - i think it may be a bit OTT for me. The shop hasnt ordered it yet which i am hoping is a good sign as i suppose i might be able to talk them round to letting me transfer my deposit on another dress. Im just in a dilema as to what to do - not only that its over £1600 (my original idea was to buy either a sample one or one in the sales) but i went with my gran and my mum and they got so excited over it they paid for the deposit there and then even though i told them to wait.
Anyway i am not going to worry over - ive got plenty of time.
Ive been looking in all the sales at the minute for bridesmaid dresses but ive not seen anything i like so i might wait until nearer the end of the year and hopefully might get some bargains.0 -
Hi everyone,
Wow I don't feel so alone now. I'm buying things for my wedding as I see them. Got everything booked and odered our wedding favours yesterday (Cancer research). I have been dress shopping but have gone with my Mum who is very sensible and has convinced me to wait till next year at least before ordering one as I have a tenancy to rush in and get things yesterday then regret my choice. So far I have not regreted any of my bargins. I have ordered my underwear (Debenhams Blue Cross sale), two bridesmaid dresses from a sample rail erm think that's it so far! I have fell in love with two dresses I have tried on but one of the shops was very funny and wouldnt let us take a photo or give me any details about the dress only the price, so i cannot find it online to see if I still like it. The last one I tried on I presumed was the same until on our way out another bride had photos taken. I hope to narrow the dresses down by next year then take my bridesmaids with me and help me decide on one.
If you keep going back to try it on you may love it again, dresses online dont do the real thing justice!0 -
Well I think we've found our venue - just working out the cost now and in the process of setting the date with the venue's co-ordinator - exciting!
I've more or less sorted the guestlist too, and as OH has an MA in printmaking, he wants to make our invites, "save the date" cards etc. I'm so looking forward to designing and making them, he's very talented so I'm sure we'll end up with something gorgeous and unique :j
I haven't sorted anything yet re flowers, favours etc. but have a few ideas:j Married my lovely man on 29th June 2013 :j0 -
I've made my first purchase! it's only some Social Stirrers from another thread on here, but it's so exciting as now I can have a 'for the wedding' box!Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
