I thought I was doing well spending very little all week - esp with the boys being on holiday from school! But then I made the fatal mistake of letting DH come to T's with me to do the weeks shop, ended up spending £92.73 :-0 That's me into my last £100 of my budget, but I'm still optimistic of making it as my parents are coming up to visit later this week and they are usually good at buying a few days worth of meals, and my cupboard and freezer are well stocked. Having pork shoulder for tea tonight, it's smelling lush. Never done a pork roast before so it's a bit of an adventure lolFeeding 2 adults and 5 piglets aged 7 months, 7, 8, 10 & 13. Thank heaven for Aldi!:rotfl:

Spigs you are in my thoughts daily hun - I hope you're ok :kisses3:
Mothership & LongTallSally - thank you for such supportive posts - In fact, thank you all for your supportive posts :kisses3:Hi Hippichiq...so sorry you are having so much trouble getting some help. Did you ever think of contacting your MP. I know someone who did and they were able to help her.and also, rightly or wrongly, I have no faith in MPs, or the system.
cat Thanks also for your support and for your good wishes and success with our appealalthough I'm very sorry to read you also suffer with depression hun :grouphug: DD is 25 btw.
tigerfeet Apart from your physical problems, your description of the ordeal you go through on a daily basis could have been written by my daughter, so I can visualise what an awful time you have of it hun, and I am sorry for it :grouphug:
As with my DD, a lot of things you suffer with can't be seen by others, which is what makes the assessment such a farce. It's outrageous that we are still living with the if your illness can't be seen then you can't be ill type of mentality.
I just want to say that it saddens me to read how many of you also suffer with MHPs, they can be so destructive and I feel for you all :grouphug:
On the GC front (sorry Rosie) I had my A$da delivery yesterday and my April total now stands at £169.92, leaving me with £70.08 to last me the next 13 days, so not quite as bad as I thought.

Meals made from leftovers are the best ones! Today we had a bit of an odds-and-sods meal of chicken pesto pasta, peppers, cucumber, salsa and a fried egg. It went down very well even if it was random.
Got £84 left till the end of my month on the 27th, so should be fine but got various sets of relatives coming over the Easter long weekend so won't count my chickens just yet!
Loving my first month of this challengesorry to those having a hard time xxx

evening all., i spent £2.01 topping up my dtd voucher, i had it refused in the first store so i've just spent it on normal shopping, i have another 3 that i will also just spend on normal shopping because i don't really want the hassle of fighting to get them to accept it, i've done very well out of it already so iu'm not bothered just embarassed
my mum informed me that she wanted me to make her tea a few times this week cause she's moving house, so i bought stuff for stew and i'm gonna make sheperds pie and spag bol, it's gonna be strange cooking for 8/9 people so i chose these as they strech, thats the kids off now for easter but we have lots of food in and oh is only getting a long weekend now instead of a weekso i don't think i'll be spending too much

Hi and hugs to everyone who would like one
I really feel for those with Mental Health problems - I have anxiety and depression, but came off my antidepressants in December and feel a lot better. I am much more positive and look forward to stuff now.
Anyway did a big shop today - total £78.79. I got to Sainsbugs half an hour before it closed so had to dash round.
DS came home on Friday and went out Friday night. Went in to wake him on Saturday lunchtime and he was in agony. He'd tripped down some steps and injured his coccyx, He's very badly bruised. I was working on Saturday night, offered to take him to A&E but he couldn't sit!
Have got him some stronger painkillers now and he is moving better.
I went to the Pharmacy in the supermarket and asked about Voltarol. I said it was for my son. The SA said she couldn't sell it to me as it wasn't for children. I had to laugh (and take it as a compliment) as he is a big strapping lad of 21 :rotfl:
So, have stocked up as he will be staying a bit longer. He is good company but sorry that the extra stay is due to an accident.
I haven't done a big shop in Sainsbury's for a while and was quite pleased with the prices - got some good deals.
Bye for now0 -
Hi All,
My budget is blown, but not too worried, the cupboards and freezers are full, made use of a £12 off £60 spend at Sainsbugs - got to the checkout and the total came to £56 so I had to have a quick dash to spend the other £4 - wasn't going to waste the voucher. Ive gone off meal plan a bit this week, as DH came home with a bag full of leeks from a colleague, so tonights tea was ham and leek cobbler, and very nice it was too.
Hugs to everyone who needs them. Have a good week everyone x2025 G/C Jan £264.82, Feb £249.68. Mar £372.66. Apr. £326.19. May £321.01. June £296.18 July £373.26. August £22.55. Nectar - Morrison’s - £ £ Boots - £3.63 Asda Rewards - £ Tesco - £0 -
I have used my £8.30 dtd voucher in reserve and my total gc spends so far this month are £46.50 leaving me £3.50 for my last 8 days... thankgod i also created a DTD voucher for £10.82 to add to that.
I would like to stretch my gc to the 1st of the month like all my other expenses rather than to payday but this means im effectively running on the £1 a day for food challenge well theres no harm in trying:o but i am off from Gd Friday till the beginning of may so i can be a little more creative at home baking in the kitchen.
To those who are having hard times at the min i hope things start to pick up and :grouphug:to all those that need/want them.
