I am meant to be working on the last assignment for my current OU course, so I can have a clear run at the next one which starts in May, but am treating myself to a short flit on here first.
Sorry that I do not have time right now to read any earlier posts, except the one immediately prior, so hope you all are well and enjoying the good weather.
Had a bad spendy week - £18.96 in A5da on Tuesday - hardly ever go, went for a couple of specific bits that couldn't get in Mr T last weekend, but didn't manage to stick to the list.
Then £60.28 in Mr T today. Stuck to the list, bar two items, but between them they added £11 to the total - I must must must get better at sticking to the list!
Brings the running total up to £152.02/£240 and we are only on the 9th of the month:eek: . Even worse, there was also an extra £7 odd in Pets at Home that probably should be on there, but this time I have taken that out of my fritter fund instead as it was more treats that necessities for the doglet.
Repeat ad infinitum - I must try harder!Debt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

Got the bus in to town to go to Mr S, with my list and staff discount card - and was shocked to find the entrance was all barricaded up, and the shop was closed until next Friday as it's being upgraded or something! How had I missed that bit of info? So, I started walking to Morrie's (where I don't usually go) - but was lucky enough to see a bus going in that direction. Was glad, as it's quite a walk, and with the granny pass it doesn't matter about taking extra bus rides.
Got most things on my list (wasn't going to pay extra for anything, so did forego a couple of items) - and was really pleased to find their strong white flour was even cheaper than their basic plain.
Made some nice sourdough sort of ciabatta-ish bread this morning by the way - left it rising overnight - and it's really nice. Used half wholemeal strong flour, half basic plain white, and water saved (in the fridge) from cooking pasta. Lovely taste and texture.
April budget is going along nicely so far, no worries as yet.Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
tesco bread flour has went up to £1.24  this means i'm going to have to start buying loafs again because it's just to dear and my lidl never has any in
Mr T's really are taking the mickey here! I was in on Tuesday and picked up a bag of the bread flour as we'd run out (having rediscovered the fun in making HM Pizza!)At that point the flour was 50p!!! How exactly can they justify a 148% (I think if my maths is right) rise in the price in 4 days.:mad::mad:
If you have a Farmf**ds near you they do 2 Hov*s loaves for between £1 and £1.25 (it's varied a bit lately).0 -

Pah - hubby went to aldi today with the challenge of only buying what was on the list as we only have £10 til friday (and a fridge and freezer full). basically needed bread, milk, sarnies fillings and fruit - he came back with all of those - plus lemons, eggs, cream and butter to make a lemon tart for pudding tomorrow - grrrrrrr. His excuse was lemons were only 49p on super 6!!!
Jeez!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Hi All,
Well I haven't had a bad week GC wise. Rather than buy crumpets and scotch pancakes - which we have for breakfast once a week, I had a go at making them myself, the pancakes were perfect, but the crumpets need a little more practice, but still nice.
I bought tinned Felix from Ama*zon back in February as it was mentioned here that its quite good value, I had always bought the pouches, but this was the best advice ever, I really think it has saved me a fortune. My cat is finicky to say the least, and I was probably throwing away more than she was eating. Now with the tins, I can give her just a little, but more often. I am really grateful for all the help and advise that is given here.
