My GC HK budget for April is £200.#Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain #We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us #If you focus on what you have left behind, you will never see what lies ahead - Gusteau/RatatouilleGC 2022: £0/£2,500 total spend0

First spend of the month today of £23.28. But should get a nice wee voucher back from T£sco for it. Should have about £40 in vouchers which I'm gonna use to stock up on basics.
Bought birthday cake for my sis today but haven't counted that in. She's 38 today, but still insists on a cake!!:rotfl:
Going to Mum's tonight, and going to make some mac n cheese. She had a wee fall on Sunday and has a corker of a black eye. So I'll spoil her a bit while I'm there.
Good luck for April everyone, and thanks to the ladies for running the thread.
:beer:My name is CherryPie and I'm addicted to grocery shopping!!

Feb 2016 - £46.73 / £100.000 -
Hi Chums put me down for my usual £120.00 hopefully I will spend quite a bit less as I am away for a weekin April0
-
I have not done this before.
I will aim to come in at £450 or under for April. To feed 3 of us all the time, add in 5 at least 3times a week and another 1 or 4 for a long weekend or two. That sounds a bit complicated.
OH and me, with DD2 coming home for Easter holidays - 2nd April (that's the first 3)
DD1, DSIL & 3DGSs (that's the 5)
DS and possibly DDIL & 2DGDs (that's the 1 or 4) - one of the long weekends will definitely be all 4
Added to that, when DS is here DD1 and family like to come over and eat - so we will be 12 at times
Will just try to be as frugal and unwasteful as possible, Cheers, SilverOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

I've like to join in with this as out grocery shopping seems to be getting worse! I go to get more budget things, but end up buying lots of other things which defeats the object! I'm really unsure of how much to budget though. We are a family of 6 - 2 adults and 4 kids aged 13, 10, 6 and 4. Five of the 6 of us take packed lunch to work/school and we also have 1 cat. I was thinking of trying £500 for the month, but its school holidays which seem to see us going through more food!
I'd be grateful for any advice0 -
thank u to all who start thread....rosie that recipe index is excellent
having a lazy day today...yesterday i made biscuits 2 cakes and a pie...most of it eaten but a bit left for today....using up the chicken i roasted on sunday for tea...with chips which makes a nice change we dont have chips very often

Hi,
I'd like to join this challenge. Our household is me, husband, 18 month daughter, two cats and a dog. I can't seem to get our household spend below £100 a WEEK which, looking at other people's targets, is far far far too much for 2 1/2 people! This includes petfood, toiletries, household products and beer/wine. But it doesn't include meat or eggs as we have our own animals. I plan all our meals and make everything from scratch so I'd really appreciate any advice from other posters!
Our meals this week are: lasagne & salad (will last two days); homemade burritos; homemade pizza & salad; steak, home-made chips and salad; baked potatoes, egg mayo and brocolli. We're invited out on Sunday. I also make bread for my husband's pieces, also some choc muffins and carrot cake for his tea breaks. DD and I have homemade soup or sandwich for lunch, and we usually have muesli or toast for breakfast. I don't think this is excessively luxurious food - the meat is all from the freezer - but when I went to the supermarket to get what I need for the week it was £100!
I think one problem is that we live in a very remote area. Our supermarket (30 mile round trip) is really small and hardly stocks any value/own brand products. The next nearest supermarket is 140 mile round trip so any savings I make on food, I spend on diesel. But four years ago I only spend £100 a MONTH on our grocery bill, and I can't put this all down to food inflation. I usually spend £15/week on a case of beer and bottle of wine but this is non-negotiable with my husband and it's cheaper than him going to the pub. We usually have two veggie days a week.
Anyway, enough rambling. I'm going to aim to spend £300 in April which I know is too much but it's a start! I look forward to learning from the rest of you!0 -
have already spent £293.72 out of my £500 for April, but did a huge meat shop at Cost** and a fairly big supermarket shop. School holidays are looming but have a cupboard full of flour and baking ingredients and have done a 5 week meal plan so should hopefully stay close to budget.Sealed Pot Challenge 2011 / no. 1205 £110 made]Sealed Pot Challenge 2012/no 1205 target £300Jan g/c 355.83/£450
