  • Grocery challenge newbie reporting for duty here!

As posted in Getting to Know You a while back, I'm about to move to London to live with my boyfriend, and whilst I'm hoping we'll be relatively comfortable I'd still like to reduce our budgets wherever we can, and food seems to be one of the main areas where we can do that.

I'm not starting properly until the weekend but as it's my first month I'm aiming for roughly £200 to feed two of us (£50/week), with a view to eventually getting this down to £120 a month (£30/week). We are going to Liverpool for Easter weekend as my cousin is getting married on the 23rd, so it may be slightly less in the end. I lived on the equivalent of that on my own as a student so I know I can do it but am easing myself in gently to begin with!

I'll do a cupboard audit once I get there to see what we're starting off with and then go from there.

Hi there, I thought I'd join again and see how far I get this time :D. £40 a week is for me, DH & DS18mths. I'm managing to do the big A?di shop every week for about £28 but then don't seem to have much change by the end of the week & don't know what I've spent it on.

My April started on Friday and my spends were as follows.

    A?di £28.64
    Sainsbugs £8.08

    Have spent today

    £1.38 @ QS
    £1.50 @ Hardware store
    TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid off

    #106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£1000

Maybe start a spending diary. Write down every little thing you spend your money on including that sneaky bar of choccie when you fill up with petrol.

Thank you Pink, MrsM and Rosieben for the thread and the hard work setting it up and running it each month

Welcome to all the new people - ask lots of ?? as there are loads of clever people on here who will help

We've just made the decision not to renew our Costco card - we only use it to get bacon and loo roll and i've just worked out that for what it will cost to get these in shops, the difference only pays for the membership so boing and its gone.

    See you all later
