If I worked for Arnold Clark I'd be trying to punt the 6 month old ex-fleet crap they also sell ;)

Indeed, even my local Kia dealer has some nearly new ones up for £5495, in white.

That's good going - Aygo has a 35 litre tank just like my Picanto and I'm only seeing 300 miles from 28 of them at the moment.

What kind of driving do you do? :)

maskerade - :rotfl: - brand new hybrid for £8k?

I do the school run 5 days, then on to the motorway to work (about 15 miles each way) then home after school pick up. Weekends i do shopping run, then maybe visit rellies etc.
I've been on a bit of a cost cutting exercise so joined the Aygo owners forum and picked up a few tips about getting more mpg. I try to drive more smoothly now, changing gear sooner rather than later (takes a bit of getting used to !) and sticking to between 55 -60 mph where i can. Obviously on the motorway i keep up !! Sticking to the speed isn't difficult, it's only a small engine but fast enough for what i need !
As long as you don't clog it much more than 70 ish on the motorway, the mpg doesn't drop too much. There's a big debate about whose petrol is the best, for mileage, but i've not noticed a huge difference in any of the petrol stations, although my friend swears she gets more miles out of Asda petrol than anyone else !!

BTW for the benefit of all those wondering why I love my Korean washing machine so much - my decision was heavily based on the finance deal offered by the dealer.

There's not much between it and the Panda apart from the fact the Panda feels roomier due to the headroom. I also had problems with space for my left leg in the Panda's rather cramped footwell with my humble size 10s.

Panda was in the region of £800 and £60 a month MORE than the Picanto on a 3 year PCP, which was the final nail in it's coffin.

Hated the Twingo so bad, as said above.

    Ever driven a Twingo?

    Horrible, horrible, horrible.

I simply do not believe the claim that the 1.2 engine produces 75bhp, it's the most lethargic piece of  I've ever driven with a dash that feels like it's made from old bin bags.

I test drove a 1.2 Bizu with a view to buy it. Brand new un-registered demonstrator with 10 miles on the clock and it was horrible.

Panda is good, £5995 is hard to get for brand new now though - most are selling pre-reg for that now.

Never driven the Bizu, but that is the "Campus" model of the day, it has no sound deadening etc, to reduce the price, however the one I have talked about is the I-Music model, which is not as bare as the Bizu.

The Clio Extreme is in a different league to your Picanto in my mind, the wifes is only an Expression , but that isn't noisy, only the low gearing makes long journeys a bit of a bind.

The Panda I have linked to I don't think it is prereg, but I would have to check.

At the end of the day a prereg is a new car in all but logbook, I don't think the OP's parents would be concerned.

I have been looking into these little cars recently for the wifes company, I had looked at the Fiat 500 Twinair due to the tax advantages of the sub 100g/km co2.

However ther is soon to be a 86bhp Clio DCi Eco2 with less than 100g/km, there is also a new Kia Rio coming, the 1.1 3 cylinder diesel has 85g/km co2 (when fitted with stop/start) with a promise of 85mpg, there will also be a new Picanto, and it really is in a different league to the current model.

I still think your issue with the Twingo may be down to the Bizu spec, it really is a basic spec. Designed to be cheap and nothing else, the more expensive models are much quieter.

I remember when I drove a Ren 5 Campus, don't know which engine, 1.4 or 1.1 I think, I hated it, my mums 1237cc Event was much better, my dad then bought a Ren 5 TR, on which the Event special edition was based so had the same engine and box, but a less plush interior, it drove just as well, but was noticable noisier.

But personal preference is personal preference, but no review I have read has ever placed the Picanto ahead of the Twingo.

Might go and test drive one this weekend for a giggle.

Bizu and i-Music are the same weight and have the same engine, so I don't buy it I'm afraid ;) Terrible car.

I actually wonder if the model I drove had something wrong with it (a nearly new Renault with a mechanical fault? :rotfl:) because the performance was ridiculous considering it had the bigger more powerful engine than any other car I drove.

Clio probably is a better car for more than £2k more :rotfl:

I saw a TV advert for the new Toyota Hybrids the other night, the "Corolla" (why on earth did they decide to rename it Auris - awful name!) looked quite nice so I had a quick look on the Toyota website. Starting price is about £20k

Next car I buy will probably be a hybrid... but I guess I might have to wait a while for the prices to become reasonable.

Nice company car choice that'll be I reckon. Don't think I'd have one though.

Don't like the Auris as a whole - it built upon the reputation of the Corolla and doesn't live up to it. Had a couple of month old one from a large hire company - 7k on the clock and the dash plastics looked very tired

    The difference between £6995 and £7895 isn't £2000 Kilty!!

I would recommend the Clio, even in the small petrol engine spec.

Don't forget that the Clio has 5 Star NCAP, I don't know what the Picanto scored though.

Just done a quick search, the Kia Picanto scored 3 NCAP Stars.

The Twingo scored 4 NCAP Stars.

The Clio scored 5 NCAP Stars.

The Fiat 500 scored 5 NCAP Stars.

The Fiat Panda scored 3 NCAP Stars.

The Colt scored 4 NCAP Stars.

The C1/Aygo/107 scored 4 NCAP Stars.

The Skoda Fabia scored 4 NCAP Stars.

Think you better drive carefully Kilty.

And lets not forget that a good PCP deal is unimportant to the OP, as they are paying cash.
