For the "planes, taxi's and trains", you could describe it as a tin can, but for the rest, your quite right, you spend X hours every day in those places enclosed within bricks instead!... and thousands rather than tens of people would have sat there before :)

I dunno, I kinda see the guy's point. A car that you own is quite a personal thing and you start to notice impacts the previous owner has had on it.

(could add hire cars to your list of suggestions :D)

No way could the previous owner ever have been as slovenly as I tend to be in my "personal space" :D So as long as it has been adequately cleaned I don't see the problem really.

(I'm probably part of the problem here mind lol).

Arnold Clark are/were selling them for £5995 + £55 first registration fee = £6050 OTR.

Most dealers are selling them for £6495. Online brokers can knock a couple of hundred off that but don't get close to AC's price.

I bought one earlier this month :)

In the interests of fairness I think Inactive and his merrymen should accuse you of A) Working for Kia
    B) Working for Armold Clark.............:D

If I worked for Arnold Clark I'd be trying to punt the 6 month old ex-fleet crap they also sell ;)

Toyota Aygo - not fast but i get 400+ miles out of a tank of petrol ! (about £39 at the moment) No car tax first year then £20, cheap insurance too. I love mine to bits. Bought it on PCP last Sept, £149 per month, after 3 years, swap it for a new one ! It has aircon and Bluetooth as standard too.

Get a hybrid... many more MPG and petrol is only going to go up as oil production has plateaued

That's good going - Aygo has a 35 litre tank just like my Picanto and I'm only seeing 300 miles from 28 of them at the moment.

What kind of driving do you do? :)

maskerade - :rotfl: - brand new hybrid for £8k?

I did get the basic one - it's up to you if you can live without A/C, central locking and a slightly fancier interior. At this end of the market I don't see the point in the higher specs because they start to get towards nearly new Fiesta/Corsa money.

The 1.1 isn't worth the extra money at all.

You can't really say that as you admit that you never drove both.

My mum had a Renault 5 Event special edition back in '88, it had a 1237cc engine, my mates mum had an 1108cc Renault 5 TL, yes there was only a tiny bit of engine capacity difference but the 1237 engine was better in every way, quicker, better in gear flexibility and a goo 5-10mpg better of fuel.

Not saying you aren't right in this instance but the OP needs to test both to see what they think.

I have to admit that I wouldn't touch an old shape Picanto this close to the new model coming out, I reckon it willl loose a lot of value, especially having seen oictures of the new Picanto, tasty.

I must admit to liking the Fiat Panda, you can get one for £5995 from GlynHopkin in Romford, I would think many Fiat dealers would have the same deal.

    See here http://www.glynhopkinfiat.co.uk/new_cars/model_Details/Panda.aspx

From what the advert says you have a coice of several different models.

Maybe not the same 7 year warranty period, but I reckon it is a nice little car, again the reason for the good deal is the new Panda coming out soon.

They do have brand new Fiat 500's but they are above your budget at £9695, though I drove past there yesterday and they had pre registered, delivery miles models for under £8000.

Would your parents be happy with a pre-registered car with between 15 and 40 miles on the clock?

I think the C1/Aygo/107 is a bad idea as they have many issues, clutches and gearbox problems spring to mind.

The Renault Twingo is in budget, the 1.2 I music model is up for £6995 at the local Renault dealer.

They have the Clio 1.2 Extreme 3 dr up for £7895.

I must admit that the wifes Clio has been a very pleasant surprise, no problems since we bought it, interior is still rattle free, no suspension noises, not even a squeek! Amazing, when you consider it is 5 years old in September, and isn't far off 60k now.

Don't rush your choice, go on a few weekend sorties, have a few test drives, maybe check the online car reviews for group tests of small superminis. Don't buy on impulse, take time to think about it.

I know Kilty likes his Picanto, even though it is making funny noises within a month of picking it up.

But in all honesty I would have a Twingo or Clio before a Picanto.

A girl at work got several trouble free years out of her Picanto, driving in from Peterborough to London for work.

She was very happy with it, not happy enough to stop her getting rid as soon as she could afford to though, she now has a one yr old Focus.

Lol I don't know the price but it could be a hefty deposit!

I only get 300 mles out of my Kia Picanto too. I wouldn't buy it new again though, only worth about £2k now

    Ever driven a Twingo?

    Horrible, horrible, horrible.

I simply do not believe the claim that the 1.2 engine produces 75bhp, it's the most lethargic piece of  I've ever driven with a dash that feels like it's made from old bin bags.

I test drove a 1.2 Bizu with a view to buy it. Brand new un-registered demonstrator with 10 miles on the clock and it was horrible.

Panda is good, £5995 is hard to get for brand new now though - most are selling pre-reg for that now.
