What new car to get??

Get a new car OP if you've got the cash, you won't regret it. The 40% depreciation hit on a new car is worth it over sitting in some fat, sweaty, middle aged balding blokes' beans/snot/bum crust.
It's been known for even brand new Bentley's to come complete with sandwich leftovers inside the door panels.
I'd rather save my money and spend a 10th of it on a professional valet service.
I don't know why im saying this........ The less fools buy new cars, the more second hand cars will cost!
Go for it!“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I tried that. I Tried to force it to select my car (Mazda6 estate). I told it I wanted to carry 4 people and drive on roads (not off road). I got A VW Caravelle, various 4x4s (XC90, Freelander, RR Sport, M class, Grand Cherokee etc.) and a couple of sensible suggestions (A6 estate, 5 series estate). All in all not very helpful.:(
Could try this, similar thing but just for new cars - Car chooser
Allows filtering by price, seats, mpg etc...
(don't be put off by all the sportscars at the start, they go away when you change the price!!)0 -
IMO there's very little point in buying say, a 3 year old supermini.
£4k (retail, not ex fleet auction fodder before anyone starts) for 3 years old when brand new is £6k? Pffffft.0 -

Of course, you must be joking, but in case your not, I guess pubs, bars, restaurants, planes, taxis, trains and so on are all out then. I bet the thought of a public toilet fills you with horror?!

In the past I have bought a one year old car for £12K, when it would have cost £24K new and another one year old one for £17K when it would have cost £35K to get a new one. Both came fully valeted from main dealers and with the manufacturer's warranty remaining.
But if you want to burn your money, then as has already been said, it keeps the supply going for those who want to save!:)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. None of those cars relate to the end of the market the OP is purchasing at. Yes big cars with big engines depreciate like a stone - my 3 year old Laguna cost £20k new and I bought it for £5k.
A 3 year old Picanto costs around £4k retail, why you'd pay that and put up with the fact the prev owner abused it because it was on PCP / HP and they didn't give a f--k about it is beyond me.0 -
Agreed Kilty -- paying £4000 for a three year old car that can be bought for well under £6000 is silly IMO. These are exactly the type of cars that are often neglected -- the original buyer may have bought it because it was cheap, and that often doesn't end well as the servicing doesn't get done etc etc.
The whole point of buying second-hand is to save a load of money. Buying a 3-year-old, £4000 car that will only be worth £1500 in another three years makes no sense. Buy new and keep until it falls apart.0 -
< £6k, PCP, driven like it's stolen, punt it at 3 years old, yep, sounds familiar :rotfl:0 -
