I sold pretty much that exact car for sale for my FIL. 40K miles, dark blue metallic, long MOT and TAX. We got £1800 for it yesterday, advertising it at £1995 - only one call though and he came out and bought it.

I would say the dealer hase £500+ markup to work with on the Colt, so is really offering you £1200 ish for your car. Thats pretty much trade price for an 04 Tino.

Summary - you could get more privately for your car, then negotiate a discount on the Colt OR this deal seems fine if you're set on trading your car in.

Just checked there - £8000 for a 60 Plate 1.3 Colt seems to be about the going rate, so his price is ok for it.

HPI on a brand new car? - wouldn't have thought so

Also ask for everything a car should come with

    Keys
    Spare keys
    Service book etc
    All paperwork
If Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred

It isn't " brand new " it has done 8000 miles.;)
  • I never bother with an HPI check if buying from a main dealer, but always do if buying privately or from a small independent place.

Make certain that the insurance is in place before you collect the new motor, and before you drive off make sure that you give it a good looking over, making sure that things such as the spare wheel, jack, locking wheel nut key etc are all there.

Don't forget to take your old tax disc off the car (unless leaving it was part of the part ex deal), and send this off for a refund.
