Got this yesterday from WH Smiths and was given a £5 voucher valid for 7 days from Friday if you spend £15 or over on books. Very useful as the OH is going Christmas shopping on Saturday. So I got Quark, a magazine and £1.50 from this tip. What a great site!

I bought 2 of the DVD editions yesterday. The DVD does have a DVD key on it, so you may need to buy 2 of them to actually receive 2 licenses (probably need to register the CD key, but I haven't tried). I thought maybe you could just buy 1 and install it on two different machines.

Also, to post #72 (berrybee), DVD drives read CDs, so it's not like CDs will become obsolete anytime soon.
  • I just subscribed using the 0845 number listed earlier in the thread - £1 for 3 issues and then cancel it after, not bad.

They have stocks left of the Jan issue if you ask too (otherwise it will start from Feb isuse!)
  • Thanks for this. However do you know if this is this just a PC version or will it also work for the Mac? Somehow I doubt it.

    thanks

I used to work in the newspaper industry and QuarkExpress (used on Mac systems) was brilliant even 10-15 or more years ago.

However it took those composing the pages quite a time to learn how to use it and, even then, they probably only touched the fringes of its capabilities.

QuarkExpress was never cheap and that also goes for the Mac equipment, particularly the 21in monitors that were needed to make the creation of pages easier.
  • In reply to Mr Squiddy's question on page 1 of this thread, try Primo PDF
It's free and works perfectly (for me!)

I have succesfully registered and installed my one copy on two machines, you just need the one serial number to register on the quark website.
  • PC only? Nuts.

Well. I have my copy but, as a Mac user it's no use to me so...

Does anyone need a copy of this?
Elements of the past & future combining to make something not quite as good as either.

Well it is a PC mag...

I guess Quark are worried about losing too much money if they gave away a Mac version. As it is they're taking a huge gamble.
