  • So does anyone know if it can be re-installed if I buy a new PC in January?
    £2 CSC = £50 (from 09/09/06)

    Savings = £102 (YBS Account)
  • Thanks for this. However do you know if this is this just a PC version or will it also work for the Mac? Somehow I doubt it.

    thanks

    Echo, if you have one of the Intel macs you could run it using bootcamp?

    So, must one register the installation online? I want to bung mine on my laptop and I wont be getting that to an internet connection anytime soon. Also, if I want to reinstall at a later date will there be any issues?

    will let you convert any windows doc into a PDF... you kind of send the document to print, but where you sould normally select the printer you are sending to, you select primo pdf and it will let you choose what kind of resolution you want (screen or print) and hey presto! a pdf is made!!!!!.... not sure if it will work with quark? but its worth a try!!!

    I've just rung up Computer Shopper to get their three trial issues deal and the first edition I would have got would have been February.

    You should be able to get the January issue in the shops for another couple of weeks, though. I think it's on sale until mid-December some time.

    On the subject of PrimoPDF and CutePDF:

    Just installed both. They both use Ghostscript which I have been using manually and they both make life easier. However PrimoPDF appears to connect to the internet everytime (my firewall catches it). I wonder about this (maybe it is just looking for updates, maybe it is more sinister) Shame as Primo has more options than Cute

    Thanks. I'm on a PowerPC G5 and only bought it in May so it will be a while before I get a different Mac unless an unbelieveable bargain crops up or tragedy strikes :)

    Strange thing is that using BootCamp didn't occur to me at all even though I was just talking to my sister about running Windows apps on an Intel Mac this morning. A handy hint for Intel Mac users out there though.

    Just buy Serif Page Plus 11 for 30 odd quid upwards or get older versions for nowt! It's just as good for mere mortals!

    I'm a big Serif fan, I have most of their apps. Page Plus is very good, and does PDF input and output. The biggest issue is compatibility with other applications, and also the professional output won't be a patch on Quark.

    Page Plus is a little gem for newsletters, posters, brochures and so forth. But you need something like Photo Plus alongside it for the artwork.

    If people are interested in Serif's software, subscribe to the newsletter. You will get regular offers of up to 60% of the website price. And here is the top tip...Always call to place your order, and ask them what they can do to persuade you to buy. They are very willing to knock a few quid off, give free postage or an extra product for nothing.
    Thanks in advance,

    Steve V
