I want to export a QuarkXpress document in pdf but do not have Acrobat Distiller installed (nor are likely to as it costs a bit.) Can anyone recommend a free/shareware pdf creation app which will work with QX?
Numpty answers own question. CutePDF Writer can be used. It installs as a printer driver and all you do is go to File->Print... and select 'CutePDF Writer'. Easy.0 -
Cool answer Mr Squiddy, pity you can't thank yourself for it (so I'll do it for you!!!!)0

I have been playing with it this morning. It looks like a damn good piece of software, much higher quality than the usual stuff given away with computer mags. I can't help thinking that it isn't worth £800 though.0 -

For most home users printing on an inkjet £800 ridiculous money and OTT but it is designed for 4+ colour print like most magazines Radio Times etc will be created in Quark.
£3.49 This is a real bargain!0 -
someone is selling this with the clip art disk on ebay for £20 and theres one on with 6 bids at £46:beer: AL MURRAY FOR PRESIDENT OF ENGLAND:beer:0

Not surprised these are shifting on eBay (kinda wish I'd had that idea too!). This is actually an incredible bargain. Most old copies of Quark still fetch a lot of money on eBay because Quark charge so much for their product. Even their upgrades are expensive, especially when compared to the likes of Adobe, but it's cheaper than shelling out for the programme new.
I'm guessing that Quark is one of the most copied pieces of software among the design community - I know a lot of companies that use it and not many of them have legit copies because Quark charge so much. And yet people keep on using it instead of the more attractively priced and pretty much equally feature matched InDesign from Adobe."Whatever happened to string?"0 -
Managed to get one from a small newsagents. CD version only though - I would have preferred the DVD. Still, just glad to have got one.
