I tend to think people should have wingmirrors fittedin the supermarket. As others have said, the amount of people who stop dead, walk otu without looking and just meander, is amazing!
I shop at my local supermarket every week. I know where things are and what i want. It isn't rocket science!

Used to work in a supermarket too. The most annoying people were the regulars who understood use by/ sell by dates, and would come in hours before the shop closed, select the items they wanted that they knew had to be sold that day, then walk around with them in their trolley until nearly closing. As soon as they saw me reducing stock they would rush over, profer their goods and expect me to reduce it for them. They would do this EVERY day!
I used to take great delight in either refusing point blank (I'd rather bin it than give them the satisfaction) or if i saw them waiting for a specific item on a shelf i woudl leave it till last, taking as long as possible, then knock 2p off. hehe
  • God I hate going to tesco with my pram as I always feel i'm getting in the way of people.

And the standing too close thing...I had this happen to me a lot and one time when I was about 8 months pregnant I was SO fed up with this woman behind me breathing down my neck I turned around and said 'STAND CLOSER WHY DON'T YOU!' she apologised then I felt bad all day. Now all I do is take a step backwards to give them the hint. ugh people are idiots.

    :T I can't stand tight people.
  • Saw a woman at the till the other week in Tesco eating a massive Jam doughnut. Sugar everywhere as she's trying to pay, and her probably 3 or 4 year old child had one as well. Seriously? Could it not wait? What probably made it worse is the woman was enormous, easily a size 24+
So many people were staring at her but she just munched on oblivious while the poor girl on the checkout had to wipe down her till.

Do you think she might have been pregnant or a diabetic? Reason I ask is because the only time i've ever consumed anything in store was when I was pregnant and sooooooo low on sugar I felt like I was going to pass out. I just HAD to eat something sweet there and then. I'm not saying that was what she was doing but it might have been. You never know. I'm sure people were giving me weird looks at eating a sweet before I'd paid but I sure as hell didn't care at the time.

If she was pregnant you would never have known, she really was enormous, her arms were large and her legs etc. It was more the mess she was making with sugar and jam all over her and the till.

Believe me I've opened a pack of mints, can of pop etc when its come down the conveyor belt after being scanned, but never stood stuffing doughnuts in while I'm loading my shopping on!
  • so nasty :( some people are just disgusting and what makes me sad is that they've produced children and they'll probably grow up to be exactly the same as their scumbag parents :(

Jeez, some of you are really harsh. Is it really fair to call people scumbags because they stop in an aisle to say hello to an acquaintance, pick up an item because they want to know more about it, temporarily get in your way (in a crowded area) or eat something while shopping?

They might not have good eye sight, for one, or they might have been so busy trying to get out of other people's way that they messed up and got in yours, or maybe they're on their lunch break and are trying to fit the shopping in at the same time. Making a mess isn't great but if they don't then what is the problem?

Is it really worth the damage all this must be doing to your blood pressure? If someone is standing too close to you, would it hurt to turn around and say "Excuse me, could you stand further back please"?

It's very unlikely that they're doing it to annoy you and can you be so certain that you've never annoyed anyone when doing your own shopping?

Shipshape, have to thank you, haven't cried with laughter like this for ages!! Your last comment about people eating before paying had my laughing that much I hit my head on the pc tower!!e

I have always hated seeing people opening packets of food before paying for them.

I'm a mother to a 17.5month old so can vouch that it can be very difficult at times if your little one decides to tantrum whilst out. Its embarrassing that other people might think you are incapable of controlling your own child. When in reality, you are perfectly capable, the child is just having a spawn-of-satan moment! I openly admit to being very lucky that my daughter's tantrums last all of the 10 seconds it takes her to realise I'm not even looking at her and are very few and far between. What gets me more than kids screaming is parents that scream back. Its like they plan a telling-off trip to the supermarket.

Oh, and I got shouted and swore at by a customer in the local Morrisons carpark tonight. It was pretty empty in the carpark and was raining heavily so I parked in a normal, end of row space near to the front door. A guy coming out of the store practically ran over shouting "You f'ing mothers shouldn't f'ing be f'ing allowed here. The w'kers create special f'ing spaces for you and you chose to f'ing ignore them!! You probably only had the little s**t to entitle you to f'ing money, houses and special f'ing parking spaces. Probably a b*****d child as well!!" Called him a miserable little old man and said I hoped he would get out of the other side of his bed tomorrow as the one he got out of today obviously isn't good for him then walked into the shop. He just stood shocked. :rotfl:

I hate it when you get to the till to pay and the cashier is too busy chatting away to her colleague about Saturday night that she takes forever to serve you. That is why I prefer to go to the self check outs.

Speaking of self checkouts, if you don't know how to scan something then why not go to a till instead of getting a member of staff to scan it for you?

Brats running about in front of you is really annoying! Why can't parents control their kids more?
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
