What happens if you don't send off your census

  • I think quite a few people near me will be getting a visit - yesterday when I walked past the post box there were quite a number of envelopes on then footpath behind it and today I've spotted some in gardens.

On Monday, the postbox near us was stuffed full of census returns, with a load sticking out of it - they are only emptied about once a week here. The next post box was also stuffed full, and ended up posting my letter from work. Someones obviously filling them in.

I have not bothered filling in my census over the last three decades, so don't plan to do anything different this time. Last time, all we got was some old dear knocking on the door - I told her it was in the post and never saw her again.

I see no evidence round here of census data being used for any planning - its just cram as many houses into whatever space is available without any amenieties in place - half the kids in our street have to go to another town for school, and we have a three week wait to see a GP.

Maybe the lack of people filling in the census is causing the problems you talk about. The numbers from it are used to work out how many schools, GPs etc are needed in each area. Therefore you could say you are causing part of the problem by not filling the form in.

Exactly! Why is this such a contentious issue?

All you need for religion is faith. I have faith in Jedi (as do many other of my fellow Knights) therefore I am a Jedi. Indeed, if religion required rigorous evidence of its correctness to exist, there would be no religion.

The website you pointed me to is interesting, claiming that because I cannot perform the actions of a Jedi (telekinesis, prophecy) then I am not a Jedi. I would argue that the thesis of that website could be used on all religions. For example, can all Christians walk on water or turn water into wine like Jesus did? Performing the actions of the one you follow is not a prerequisite to following.

Two thousand years ago (allegedly), the Jews persecuted people who believed in a blossoming religion called Christianity. Two thousand years later, it is the followers of Jedi that are getting persecuted :(

I am happy for you to follow any unprovable religion you may believe in, but please do not persecute and oppress me for choosing to follow my unprovable religion :A

Now, I have a lightsaber to polish.

you honestly put jedi down? you want your descendants in 100 years thinking you were a mentally ill cretin?

My descendants in one hundred years time will not require the census data of today to realise I was a raving lunatic. I imagine that bequeathing the riches I am going to make (from following MSE advice) to my dogs and cats will alert them to the fact that I was one beer short of a six pack.

Also, like Obi-Wan Kenobi, I will be able to haunt them too.

I completed and sent mine in a week early as a protest (and in no way 'cos I didn't read the instructions properly).
I bet that causes them havoc at the returns office. F**k the system!
  • Well you will in the end be arrested and taken to a secret location where you will be questioned if you do not give them the right answers you will be flown out of the country to a country which has not signed up to the human rights act and subsequently tortured by water boarding . So I suggest you stop being an arss and fill it out unless you are an imbecile you can then ask for another to fill it in for you.Hope this helps
