Our local Morrisons sell a new Bero cookbook. It is only about £1 and a small notebook size.

  • I've had a look in a very old Bero book I inherited from my Grandma and there's a recipe for a Milk Chocolate Cake which has evaporated milk in it. Is that the one you are looking for?

I have a bero book which is probably 1950's and there's a recipe for 'milk chocolate cake' which a sponge sandwiched together and iced top and sides with 'milk chocolate icing'; pm me if you think this is the one :)

eta - crossposted with Beeker, sounds like the same recipe :)

Is it the Victoria sponge on with jam in the middle.

I have an old Bero book and bought a new one but I found that the recipes for say rock buns and such like had a lot less sugar in the recipes, now when youre used to 8 oz the 6 oz just doesnt do it for me.

So its back to the falling to bits old one.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

They old ones were a bit too sweet though. I had to half what they did for crumble topping.
