  • my OH and kids informed me earlier that "tomorrow you get a wonderful day out, doing what you want to do". Going to every Tesco within a 50 miles radius flashed into my head. Apparently not, what I "want to do" is go to the zoo lol. ah well, will be a lovely day out. Wonder if the zoo do DTD at the gift shop?

I thought the terms zoo and tesco were interchangeable!:D

Going to say this again as I know it's impossible to keep up with the posts in this thread, but to those worrying about the offer being pulled due to the spreadsheet....

Think logically - whats easier for Tesco to do.... Promise to beat ASDA's prices, then a month later turn around and admit they can't and pull the entire offer.... or....

Look at the sheet and simply reduce the prices on it to match ASDA there by halting every single one of us in our tracks, without having the public humiliation of ASDA winning the battle.

Bottom line IMHO is that we have made it incredibly easy for Tesco to stop this from happening, but they havent done a thing to stop it so just how concerned are they?? I still think when they are charging a couple of quid more than Asda on some items that they are making more money by leaving the price as is and letting millions of consumers over pay for the item while just hundreds (who use DTD) save on it than they would do by reducing the item to same price and lose the current mark up on EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER.

ONny IMO of course, but seems logical to leave it as is to me... :D

If you like this Jam, just back from getting some real food at Waitrose after my 4 Tesco shops today and noticed.

Waitrose have buy 2 save £1.25 so cheapest place to buy this jam at the moment.

Thanks, I adore Bonne Maman and always save the jars for storage as they are so pretty. Sadly no Waitrose here though. :(

How on earth do you manage to do 5 in one go!!! You are a true Tesco DTD hero!!!:smileyhea Nerves of steel, I salute you, tara747!:A

I only managed to do 2 rounds of 2 and that was with 2 of us!;)
Everything went pretty smoothly today, no remarks about my missing numbers on the reciept, had to go and dash for a few things to make total up.:o think I may have blundered by going over on DTD though! (Note to self: look for more N/A or same price items)

p.s. air wick coupon for refill works with the normal air wick too! I used an Air wick coupon from the product from last time, an air wick coupon from online and an air wick coupon from the post!

Hope everyones had a good DTDing day!:j:T

p.p.s My fave T store for DTDing is being closed for refurbishment for one week:eek:! Where will I go?? Express or the nasty T's?

    Thanks :A *blush*

Oooh, dilemma re which T to go to. But you can't get DTD on items bought in an Express store, so I'm afraid it's back to the evil T for you. :(

Also, to those worrying about the hightened profile of the spreadsheet (and indeed this very thread) I wouldn't worry too much, Tesco knew this was going on even when the added the £20 limits and £100 max per month. Here are some reasons why I don't think they are bothered too much:

    1. Why would they set a monthly target if they knew the offer was being abused to an extent they felt the need to withdraw it completly?

    2. Rather than pull the offer, they could simply look at the list themselves and reduce the prices of the items on it to match ASDA's prices making our efforts futile.

    3. They do not want to be put in a position of publicly admitting they cant beat ASDAs prices and shut down the promotion so soon after starting it.

I could be wrong, but i think they have more to lose than gain by shutting it down to soon (especially when option 2 above is the easiest thing in the world to do without losing any face whatsoever in the public eye, but they still chose not to do it). I think they don't becasue they still make more money from the people buying it and not taking advantage of DTD (thereby over paying) than they lose from those taking "optimum advantage" of the offer.

I would suggest #3 is the biggest reason they won't stop it. It would be a MASSIVE climbdown, and I've noticed in the past few days (related to this?) that Asda have been promoting their price-match again. With Asda broadcasting to everyone they think they're 10% cheaper, how bad would it look for Tesco to admit that they also think Asda are cheaper!
Also, I know I've spent more in Tesco than I would without this. Not even counting the DTD stuff, when I was in there I ended up buying a full price box of fancy chocolates as a gift for someone, which otherwise I'd have bought in a shop nearer where I live. In my case that means for the £120 worth of goods they've so far given me, I've paid £25 (£5 choc;£20 investment) which is still a terrible deal, but I expect some of you have paid more on other stuff you bought because you were in the shop so why not?

I have edited the sheet so items that have negative cost value (e.g. total cost is actually a profit) will automatically appear in red to highlight them.

Personally i throw a couple of those items in each shop to reduce overall cost as much as I can and figured would be easier for others who do likewise to spot those items if they were highlighted. Hope thats ok, shout up if not and I will change it back :)

bottle of comfort in every single one of my shops:D, a bit bored now though so will probably chuck in something else in red - thanks v. much to all who contribute to SS.

Not tried yet but was looking for 'normal' shopping to contribute to DS uni box (students eh?)
