If I can get a place, mac, then you are on!!

Actually, I last ran the GNR in 1992......so next year would be 20 years since doing it.....hmm, another challenge of seeing whether I am fitter as I get older perhaps? Although my GNR time was 2:07 so would take some effort for me to beat.

    *ponders*

So.....last night our plans were scuppered because my Mum's car broke down so we didn't do dinner. Instead I accepted a last minute invitation for a drink from a friend of a friend with some other new people I hadn't met either, as well as a couple of girlfriends I do know - it was lovely......me, a couple of the girls, a lovely gay couple who were hilarious, and with a very different topic of conversation than those that I am used to :rotfl: and the mutual friend who brought us all together. Just went to a pub in town, sat outside because the evening was mild, and I was driving so wasn't drinking, and it was superb. New friends made, and a reminder that I can do stuff if I want to, but not if I don't.

This morning I'm about to leave for a ski race - am a bit on the drag so must make a flask of coffee and skidaddle.

    Have a good one xxx

Was lovely. Relaxed and fun. No expectations and no judgements. Just what was needed :)

So here we are - another week is upon us, and I wonder what this one will bring us?! Today is DS' birthday - 16.....where has the time gone! Tonight is football, so that suits him nicely, and saves me having to think what to do :o

Moneywise, I have spent more than I wanted to this weekend.....so need to work things out again. Nothing frivilous, although I went out on Saturday unexpectedly which cost £20 or so, but things like DD needing a couple of shirts for college, and DS needing a new school bag because his has finally worn through.

The weather forecast looks good this week - an Indian Summer is just what we need. A bit of sunshine with the autumnal colours is just beautiful.

    Have a good day/week xxx

Just checked online banking and it reminded me that I didn't update as to my intended mortgage overpayment.

After re-doing the budgets, and allowing for the unavoidable increases in utility bills etc that have occurred recently, I decided to use half my pay increase to cover these, ensuring that I don't worry about having enough in the bank to cover the basics, with the other half going to the mortgage as an overpayment.

So, a reasonable compromise I think - the first payment has been made today, so I am on the way. Of course, if budgets require, the overpayment can be stopped, but I really did want to take the opportunity to chip away at it. If I can maintain it, it will still make a good saving in the longer term.

Thats great, Hypno - I'm glad you could send something as an overpayment. Have you had time to use the snowball calculator?

Great news on the overpayment but I am more impressed that you are in a place where you feel comfortable enough in yourself to say that you aren't going to worry if you cant do it every month. Good to get a balance for yourself after all these years.
