    This quote had me chuckling:

"She has become used to asking her husband for money and living more thriftily, having au pairs rather than nannies"

    Morning!

Just lost a post! Sorry to read things have been a struggle recently.

I too have been struggling with sleep this week - hope you got a better night!

It's not surprising that you have got to a point where you need to take stock - so much has happened over the past few months/ years. I find writing in a journal helps. I only write when I need to get things off my chest so if anyone read mine they'd think my life is very negative. I've been trying to write it in more often but I really only want to when I want to 'talk'! It's great that you do have the tools to help you to take stock - you may not use them regularly but they are there when you need them.

Re - clothes and knowing what to wear. I had an image consultation last year- I was stuck in a rut of wearing boring clothes that didn't flatter me. I'd love to lose weight but I am not there mentally and motivationally so I decided that I had to dress for my current shape. It was helpful to have some advice on clothes that would look good, colours that suited me etc. I have bought fewer 'staples' as I work on getting my wardrobe sorted and for the jobs I am now in. I also found I wasn't wasting money on clothes bought on a whim that weren't me!

Good luck with the 'thinking' - I'm sure it will lead to a plan that will give you direction.

Hi urg....sleeping is better - still waking up at about 4am but I prefer that to not being able to get to sleep in the first place, so it is much better than it has been - hope your sleeping settles soon too!

re the clothing thing - I am really very happy with the way I am dressing, and my weight etc at the moment - probably looking the best that I have done EVER, which feels pretty good. The insecurities run deeper than that, unfortunately, and therefore need more work on them. It may be that I have to get some sort of external help with this, which I am unsure about I have to say. Time will tell, but in the meantime, I will look good on the outside at least!

It is Friday......I am trying not to think ahead to this evening.....but obviously I already am, and wonder what I will feel as it draws nearer. I need to let it go. I know that :o

It is also payday and a huge sigh of relief has been sighed already. However, I now have to fund all those things that I have been putting off for a few weeks and which can't be put off any more....so the funds will be depleted again very soon. Today I really do need to start work on the budgets, and to be realistic about money again, and what I am trying to achieve. At the moment, I still need to concentrate on "me" so if the budgets need to be tweaked to accommodate that, then so be it. I am important, and the mortgage overpay may need to wait a while until I am ready to do different.

I hope you can work it out - your style and attitude towards clothes sounds great. It really is about feeling secure deep down.

I'm joining you on the need to knuckle down for the next month - I've had a very naughty September and need (as usual) to get back to basics.

    Happy Friday!

Good point, really, lucielle -there is nothing I should dread.

Basically, Friday night is the night my children are with their father - therefore it is my night off from being the responsible one.

However, it is also the night that I am becoming more and more "expected" to be sociable. Whether just the after work drinks, or then going on somewhere after that. Try saying "I just fancy an evening at home" and you get the answer "what you need is.......".

Generally speaking, I enjoy most of these evenings, but there invariably comes a point when I look around, the self esteem thing kicks in, I feel inadequate, I feel very much *on my own* and I make a quick exit for the nearest cab rank, and by the time I get home I am an absolute wreck.

I am getting teary just writing this - it really is a big issue for me, and one I have to crack, otherwise my one night of being able to do what I want to do, becomes anything but.

I know that all I need to do is say "no". Part of me wants to do that......and to go and curl up under the blanket on the sofa never to appear again. Part of me wants to live life, and meet people and have fun.

That's the bare bones of it. It does run a little deeper than that, but I can't go into that on here.

Bet you wish you hadn't asked now :rotfl:

((((hypno)))))))) Remember you don't actually have to tell workmates the *truth* about what you'd rather be doing tonight... Especially not if what they say is going to make you feel bad, or get a barrage of silly comments. You *could*, for all they know, be off to the theatre. Or a glamorous restaurant with *someone else*. Or if it's friends who will get even more suspicious, you could just not answer the phone...

There's nothing better than a good night in with yourself sometimes! I'm sure you know it doesn't have to be either curling under a blanket and never speaking to anyone again on the one hand, or being madly sociable all the time on the other...

    look after yourself xx
