still trying to have my first AFD any help to just get started
Definitely find a displacement activity. You could try a relaxing bath (sorry Archimedes;)) or a book or a walk, just something to keep you occupied that would make it hard for you to drink. I find that going out to a class on a Monday helps me set the tone for the coming week.Miss_Piggy wrote: »Back on wagon today. Of course we don't mind!

I think you're an absolute saint, it must be so hard to watch him. Make sure you take good care of yourself.
I've had a good day today. A little wobble when I thought how nice it would be to have a drink in the garden but decided against it and no problem after that.
10AF for me please Shaggy and 2 for the challenge Bearcus.0 -

All back to normal in the Rainman household last night. I'm not sure if it was 2 or 3 that MrR polished off ...
MrsRainman I've been thinking about you, you really are amazing :A I just wondered has Mrrainman ever considered swapping his drink of choice? I know someone who though unable to give up just yet, but is working on it, has switched from a bottle of spirts a day (75cl) to less than a bottle of cider (1ltr) the change has been stark,to their health and finances, by downgrading the alcohol percentage. Now they have got out of the cycle of being continually drunk they can see things were more clearly they are drinking less and less.
Miss P How you doing this morning? Hope you are feeling much more positive today x
Right off to do some work then will hopefully be able to get out in the sunshine later!
Have a good day!

Morning all, happy sunny Thursday.
Every day is AF now, not sure what number that make me now Shaggy?
I won a bottle of wine in our local raffle last night, there wasn't an alternative prize, I gave it to my niece. I tried AF free wine at my friends, which was vile. Not sure what was going on, I think it was the combination of a nice summers evening plus a little pressure from a friend who had gone to the trouble of buying it in the first place. I think it has highlighted the need to change my associates, or at least limit the time that I spend with them to places when the opportunity to drink alcohol is dimminished.
An old colleague is having a leaving do this evening. The team were renowned drinkers, I initially said that I would go, but don't relish being around some leary drunks. I had agreed to give another friend a lift, so feel as thought I am letting him down somewhat, but I have to be responsible for my own recovery.
Mrsrainman, take extra special care of yourself.
Lets all keep up with our challenges - we know we are worth it.
I am off to spend the day in the library, I only have 5k words to go and am determined to break the back of it.

Good morning all!
DAY 2
15 please Shaggy
2 on the Schoolnight challenge please Bearacus
Hope everyone is ok? Am feeling much better today thanks Mari.
Maman - yes, am feeling more positive.
Darwinsmum - you are right, you are responsible for your own recovery. In time, you may find it easier to go to occasions such as the one you were going to. No sense making things hard for yourself right now though.
Well.....last night was a bit odd. Spent the evening feeling strangely relieved! Not sure why and its hard to explain the exact feeling. Sat and did loads of knitting, watched a film and had a lovely bath.
Slept like a log and feeling quite lively today. However, today is my SIL's birthday and we've all been invited for supper. This usually means drinks flowing so I will have to have my excuses ready.
Drank about 2 litres of water yesterday - aiming for the same again today.

Morning :hello:
One more AFD for me Bearacus.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
mrsrainman I still really feel for you with mr r putting away 2 to three bottles of wine a night. Is it affecting him at work at all? he must feel dreadful every day-I think you have the patience of a saint.
