    15 AF days please Shaggy
Had friend round for dinner this eve and offered her a glass of wine which she accepted. Ive just realised now, that it didnt even enter my head to pour myself a drink, i just had a fizzy water and didnt even notice her drinking the wine at the table. Wow this is a 'moment' for me, which gives me the incentive to keep going.

  • Evening all, I hope everyone has enjoyed the glorious sunshine.
I can honestly say I have lost the desire to drink now and I hope that this continues. The memories of the fuzzy head and muffled thinking make me shudder. Not to mention the mysterious void that the last 20 years seems to have vanished into.
On a more positive note, the extreme fatigue is easing off as is the restless legs that have plagued me for a few nights.
Posting/reading this forum has really helped to keep me focused and on the straight and narrow.

    14 AFD for me, please.

Still struggling with sleep - finally getting to sleep at 1am ish and then back up at 6. Still, don't feel too bad for it. Perhaps I just don't need much sleep. Find it very difficult to switch off without the booze. Not getting any easier, yet...

Just back from a long weekend away. I was drinking but not so much that I did anything embarassing or felt ill.

Had a quick catch up and saw lots of old faces on here over the weekend:wave:

Bearcus, would you put me down for 3 nights on the School Night Challenge, please. I'm determined to get back on the wagon before going off (again) this weekend. It would be so easy to slip back into old ways.

That's 9AF for April please Shaggy and 1 for the challenge Bearcus.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Hi - I'm no expert at all - but maybe you could get going by trying to put back the time that you have your first drink? For example, if you have your first drink at 7 try getting to 8. When you succeed at 8 move to 9, etc and then before you know it you will be close to bedtime and it won't be worth having a drink.

You probably need to find a drink to replace alcohol - for me I'm happy drinking hot chocolate.

Maybe your doctor's practice could help in some way to get you going if you are really struggling?
