All this talk of sunny weather reminded me of how much of a trigger it was for me - sunny day = alcoholic drink = pub.

That is me too! I didn't realise it until I started doing my Alcohol Diary. I also thought the xmas period was my weakness, but no it's the sun :)
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Morning all. Well I'm half way through my 10 days off and have only had a drink one night and that was on Saturday. Normally I would have drunk every night when I'm off work. This thread has really helped me think about how much and how often I drink, so thanks guys.

15 for April please Shaggy, and 3 for the challenge Bearacus.

DH has left me the car today, but I've no idea where to go! Went for a 7 mile walk yesterday with DS7 and the dog. Think I'll drive out somewhere different, take a picnic, and do the same again today.

    Morning folks!

    What a beautiful day! Smiley-Sunshine-keep-smiling-9090950-166-169.gif

We were sitting out in the garden last night and our lovely neighbour heard us and passed over a beer for DH and a cider for me - all chilled and ready to drink! I said "wow, thank you so much" and chatted for a bit while firmly holding the cider in my hand (away from my mouth). When we'd done chatting, we sat back down and I put the full bottle of cider on the table. DH said "I take it you want me to drink that for you" and I said "yes please" and went to top up my lemon squash!! Can't believe I actually did that! The good thing is that it didn't bother me. Quitting alcohol was a big decision and will bring challenges along the way but, when I get through something like that, I know I can rise to it!

I will not drink today because.....its Bank Holiday tomorrow and I'd like to wake up earlyish with a clear head and go out for the day with DH and kids (if I drink, I won't surface til 10am and certainly won't feel bouncy enough to pack some sandwiches and cart off for the day)! :D

Have a wonderful day everyone! Be good to yourselves :A

  • Morning all. 20/30 for me.

I have to go to my DH's work leaving drinks today. It's lucky I'm not drinking, otherwise I just know I'd tell all his soon-to-be ex colleagues exactly what I think of them, and how they've treated him. Instead I'll be able to hold my tongue (well, maybe not be quite so abusive) and smile (a bit).

Oh my goodness Guys, thank you so much for all your kind comments. Made me smile/cry :o I often joke that I have the patience of a saint :ABeckseven - He still manages to get up for work everyday and feels fine which i'm amazed at. But i guess his body is used to it. The biggest effect is felt at the weekends when he doesn't get out of bed until gone 10am (often gone 11am). It just feels like a waste of a day and then he has to have a drink to stop the shakes.

Mari - He does occassionally change his drink, but not very often. I try to tell him that if he doesn't make a consious effort to stop at the shop then he won't buy it. Hopefully he'll see it more clearly soon

Darwins-Mum - Well done for passing on your raffle prize. Temptation was really placed in your path then!

Miss P & RachelWW - It sounds like you are both doing really well :j Well Done!!!!

All this talk of Lime and soda is making me thirsty! Think I might have to find something refreshing to sit in the sunshine with this weekend.
Over christmas I did feel I was missing out by not having a drink, but I checked out the small low/non alcoholic section in asda and really enjoyed the Pear Cider I bought. :D

Anyway, I really should go and do some work. Hoping to get an early one tonight (dreading the train journey home, it'll be packed!). Need to pop in to Primark and get some long floaty/stretchy tops and dresses. Little Bean is having a growth spurt!

    Happy Easter everyone!! :easter:
