This is so interesting to me. I am considering stopping completely. Freeing up the mental energy would be fantastic. The internal debate acts like physic vampirism, draining resources. I too am tormented with feeling I am missing out, why can't a just enjoy an occasional drink like other people? I don't even drink too much! I think I just need to make peace with the fact it doesn't suit me, I am not other people and just step past it.

*Mari* Good luck. Be stubborn and prove them wrong!:rotfl:

Another thing I`ve realised since giving up is that I`m not a party type person at all (I`ve got friends who are and probably always will be) I`ve always coped with partys by getting absolutely hammered but as you say I`ve come to realise that that kind of lifestyle just doesnt suit me and I`m happier to be at home leading a peaceful life rather than out partying and to be honest drinking at home just gets in the way as I`ve got so much I want to do.

    16 for me please, Shaggy.

Also went for a 6 mile run tonight - that's a proper "green" day. Where a "red" would be alc and no running, and "amber" would be both

Good morning all-I'm on nights tonight so 9 afds for me please. I must admit i was a bit narked today as I was in Asda seeing everyone buy their booze for the weekend and thought that I really would have liked to have drunk tonight. However, I went to sleep this evening and when i got up dh had polished off a bottle of red to himself and a couple of beers and was slurring etc so glad Im not in that state! I run a mums and tots group and it is our annual easter egg hunt tomorrow so I've got to get up for that at 9.50 so will be a bit dead on my feet tomorrow-hopefully the gorgeus weather will get me through. Going to do my tracey anderson method dvd at about 1.30am so hopefully will feel virtuous! Darwins-mum-well done on giving that wine away and lala that was supreme willpower with the cider. Mrs R hope you got yourself some lovely bits from Primark-I love it there as you can buy an entire new wardrobe for a few quid! Good Friday everyone!

As I had decided to drink last night, I thought I'd have quite a bit to chill out as the day was a hard one yesterday.

I had 2 pints of cider. While I had a drink, the fact remained I didn't carry on. I stopped at 2 pints. Thats a massive change in my attitude towards booze, not that I'd drink until I could drink no more, but to only have 2 pints is a major change for me.

I woke up at 6.45 this morning, no hangover, this has been the best month for me in years so far, 14 AF days and the days I have consumed booze, 3 of those yes I got drunk, the other 4 have been a couple or one drink. And I've lost half a stone this month already.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
