What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    8AF please Shaggy.
  • AF on Monday and last night, making 7AFDs please Shaggy. Well done to all those abstaining over the festivities. I'm off work now with a very excitable 7 year old, we're going to ice the cake that we made yesterday in a bit. Then just 2 more pressies to wrap tonight and I think I'm done.

Sorry to hear about your troubles legs and hi to all those joining the thread x

  • Hello, I'm new to this forum and need some help. I have retired recently and with it seems nothing to fill the time, have turned to drink in a big way.
I want to, I need to stop. I dont think I can do it alone though.
How do you help each other? simply by email encouragement?

  • Hi All,
Well nothing new (positive) to report on the AF front, other than I haven't done anything to excess....no falling down moments or discarding of clothes !! (well I am 40 now after all :rotfl:)
Planning for a couple of AF days between Xmas and New Year. Nothing like the target I set myself for Dec, but certainly have drunk less this year than last - thanks largely to the support from you guys.......
Off to Wales for Xmas with the in-laws (which certainly requires wine ;)), so not likely to check in again until post-Xmas.
So I wanted to say now, that I wish one and all a very Merry Christmas . Congratulations to everyone who is abstaining from booze either in the long or short term and to everyone who is trying to cut down or living with someone who is trying to make a change in their life where alcohol is concerned.

Also, love and positive thoughts to those who are struggling with other issues or supporting family members who are going through tough times.
I am not a religious person, so won't commit to prayers and the Lord etc (no disrepect to those who do) but I do not doubt the power of positive thinking and the strength taken from the support of others.

Very best festive wishes, and thanks for everything,

    CP x

Welcome Hiker. I am sure some lovely people will be along soon to explain it better but until then I'll have a try. This thread offers support for anyone cutting down or stopping drinking. It is pretty magic in that it works by just posting what you want to achieve and how you are getting on good or bad. We are all trying to move in the same direction and support each other. You can post a monthly target which the lovely Shaggy keeps updated for us. You can also join the School Night Challenge (SNC) which runs mon to thur, this breaks the month down into small chunks and helps to stop the slide into drinking every night. This gem is Bearacus' baby. HTH.

I miscounted, so 15 AFD and only managed 3 SNC. x

Hi everyone, its been a long time since I`ve posted anything on this forum but I always intended to drop in and say hello when I reached my 1 year AFness. Well its happened as of yesterday.
