The Giving up/ Cutting down Alcohol support thread- number 10

Night 4 of AF.
I have never gone this long by choice. It started off easy, but its harder now.
On the plus side there is no alcohol in the house for me. But it is tempting to stop off on the way home from work tomorrow.
I have felt much better for it in the mornings though. Waking up better.
At the moment my challenge is to get past Christmas. At least I have 3 days of work next week, that will help keep me busy.0 -

You are doing really well.:T The mornings are the best bit. Don't think about the evening, think about the morning!0 -

Hi mollypolly. so lovely of you to drop by. :T for sticking to your AFness and hope you and yours (esp DGS) are all well.
Welcome hiker, I know people look forward to retirement with longing but it can take some adjustment. Chloris has explained how the thread works and I hope you'll join us. If you're not ready to set a target, perhaps try one day at a time and post those up. Every AF day counts! What's important is that you break the habits you've fallen into and regain control of your drinking. I don't know whether you want to give up completely or just cut down. There's loads of friendly support on here and advice if you tell us what you need. Good luck.
Another AF day for me so I've actually managed 3 for the SNC (although I didn't sign up this week:)). I'm pleased with that as the night I had a drink was DD's birthday so champagne was allowed. I'm very pleased I'm not drinking just because I can.
I'm planning to drink moderately over the weekend (as I always do) but will be trying to have at least another day before new year. I'll be popping in when I can but would like to wish virtual friends old and new on the thread a very Happy Christmas!:xmassmile:A

Hi All!!!!
Legs - Just wanted to send you hugs. My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.
Welcome to all the newbies  Well done for joining, especially at this time of year.
Sorry I haven't been around for the last week or so. With Christmas, and work, and BabyR I just don't have enough hours in the day!!
Nothing new to report, although I did pour a bottle of wine down the sink the other day (in anger ). The "When I stop drinking after Christmas" line is still the favorite phrase :wall:
I just want to wish you all a fantastic, happy, fun, safe and sober(if you choose to be) Christmas and New Year. Thank you for all the support you have given me through out 2011. :xmassign:

Well done May. I've not managed my SNC target this week as I have a couple of sherries last night and one glass of wine tonight as I am visiting family. All very moderate though which I think is a direct result of this thread making me think about whether I actually want a drink rather than assuming I will have one because it's the evening.
So thank you and Merry Christmas one and all.0 -
