Mum's going back into hospital in London on Thurs to have her drains taken out (at last) and permanent stents put in. She should be out at the weekend. Then we've just got to wait for the appointment with the oncologist. Hopefully this will be next week, and at least it will be at a hospital closer to home.LBM Dec 10. Good morning everyone
Another 1 AFD for me, so that is 4/16.
I weighed myself at home this morning and since getting my shock about weight and alcohol consumption I have lost 7lbs so I'm am really pleased with that.
I am joining SW tomorrow with friends and plan to have nice long cycle ride again at the weekend.
Hope everyone is okay today.

Morning everyone,
Thinking of you Miss P - it was the night sweats after a binge that was the main factor in deciding I needed to give up altogether, they are so frightening I felt like I was dying at times, awful.
Rachael, you are right alcohol can make you feel really morbid at times I think it definately causes depression in some people, its fine when your on a binge but the way it makes you feel following a binge can be terrible.
Good luck everybody on your challenges.
12 AF DAYS FOR ME PLEASE SHAGGY.0 -
Hi Everyone,
Almost recovered from the seizure. My tongue is still loaded with ulcers and quite swollen but think it's slowly getting better. So, not drank since Saturday night - I've read Allen Carr 3 times now and highlighted some of the "myths" and mis directed thought that kept me where I was.
Really looking forward to the match on Sunday and spending the day sober. My cousin text last night and invited us over on Easter Sunday which usually means having the kids sleep over at their Grandparents while my DH enjoys a few drinks and I drink my body weight in beer/wine. We've agreed to go and I'm looking forward to it as a non-drinker. I'll dance to my hearts content and wake up the following day with a memory bursting with fun instead of uncomfortable flashbacks and headache to ruin the whole day. I know I can do this and am excited by the journey.
This thread is helping me so much, I have the most respect for all of you whether aiming to cut back or quit altogether. I've reached the point where I realised I can't just have one, it's my addiction, one is never enough.
I'm off work today with my sore throat/mouth/tongue, hope to beback on track tomorrow.
Thanks for listening.

Hello again all
Lala - sorry to hear you are still suffering but glad to hear you are on the mend. As Toomany just said, you are sounding so positive that its really cheering to hear
Trasi - yes, I have to admit I found it very scary the other night. I've never had anything like that before. Hopefully its the kick up the backside that I really need.
Rachel - hope everything goes ok with your Mum tomorrow. Lots of (hugs)) Well done on the win at bingo - never won a sausage the few times I've been!:)
Well, we've made, painted, cut out, stuck and drawn to our hearts content this morning. In between I've managed to get the bathroom and kitchen cleaned so am quite pleased with myself.:D Am sure I'll collapse in a tired heap this afternoon - just hope Piglet does too so I get a bit of a nap!:rotfl:

Hi Lala, have you tried a mild solution of warm salty water to ease the pain of the ulcers and reduce swelling? Going to a family drinking session and remaining sober is a real eyeopener. I stopped drinking when I was around my extended family at xmas. I can't bear the thought that I look/behave like "that" IYSWIM. I continued to drink at home, setting an awful example to my 2 impressionable sons. One of whom has made the pub his home and the youngest has tried alcohol, but not in any great amounts. Family members have suggested that this is what he "should" be doing as he is a teenager, then he is regaled with all of the teenage shenanigans that we got up to etc, which of course are funny until the realisation hits home that some of us in our 40's and 50's are still doing it!!! Laugh? I could cry.
Have a great day and keep up the good work.
